    Home Theater Receiver Question

So I just bought and put together my new entertainment center. My HT receiver will only fit on 2 of the shelves. My question is, how much breathing room does it need above it? Is 1/2 inch enough?

that should be fine. Just check it every now and then to see if it is getting really hot.

Just slide a dvd player on top of it and sorround it with plugged in AC adapters and candles, I think it'll be fine.

I would...but there's not enough room for anything to go on top of it..

Recievers do have the uncanny ability to just stop working out of the blue on you. Its almost as if there is some hidden program installed in its circuits to die on you.....right after the warranty expires.

well its 4 years old and now im extremely worried about buying anything other than at the store, knowing that its new and good. With the unexpected death of this unit, buying anything used or online frightens me. It was used 10-20 hours a week for nearly 2 years. the other two years, i was away at college and it wasnt in use. its barely used his playtime.

What should I do with the speakers? All 5 output about 200 watts but they have 4 wires.. a red and black set for the "sub" and a grey and blue set for just sound.. the unit had a built in sub type feature. i guess ill throw it all away.. damn electronics
