    Anyone here watch Britcoms?

I was first exposed to Britcoms as a young teen with the show ARE YOU BEING SERVED? It's one of the most lewd/sexual inneudo laced shows i've ever seen! Recently tho i've grown to love a more recent Britcom called MY FAMILY. The show is about a bumbling dentist and his crazy family. The lead actor Robret Lindsay bears a very striking resemblence to Tim Allen.

Anywho this show was created by a guy named Fred Barron who has had extensive work in the US creating CAROLINE IN THE CITY, DAVE'S WORLD and was a writer for THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW and KATE & ALLIE.

So again I ask do any of you guys watch Britcoms and if so what are your favourite shows?

Ok, I somehow found this thread, and hopefully onbody cares that I bumped it like 4.5 years later...

I used to love Are You Being Served!!! They aired it here last year all over again, I can watch it again and again. Used to watch it in the 80's. Same goes for Fawlty Towers. And I also like Keeping Up the Appearances.

Benny Hill (not really a sitcom, but...) is probably in the top 3 shows ever for me.

I was just thinking about Are You Being Served the other day. Used to watch it on PBS back in the day when we didn't have cable. I don't actively look for new Britcoms but I checked out The I.T. Crowd a couple years back and of course the original The Office.

Mr. Humphries on AYBS? was the single most hilarious British comedy character i've ever seen. The guy was clearly gay but IIRC they never outright said "yes he's gay" but everything he did from his mannerisms to his speech and personality screamed that.

Such a character would never make it to American TV.

I dig on the IT crowd and am stoked for the new upcoming season.

Though they've faded in my memory a bit I remember "Are you being served?" as mildly amusing and "The Young Ones" as funny in entirely different way.

Never got into "Faulty Towers" or the one with the two chain smoking hard drinking women who's show name excapes me.

Does "The Mighty Boosh" count? I like that show too.

Spaced is the only one I've seen. Someday I need to check out The Office.

Shameless is absolutely hilarious. Frank Gallagher is one of my favorite characters on TV.

                    Sybil.

Born and bred in the UK so I know my fair share of British television.

If you haven't seen it before watch One Foot In The Grave. Classic!

Coupling is one of my favorites. It's on Netflix Instant-Stream. Very funny show and a good cast of characters. Pretty much just about the relationship between men and women.

Yes, I forgot about Coupling. That's another good one.

Another good show is Gavin & Stacey. It's about a long distance relationship. He's from Essex and she's from Barry Island in Wales.

I haven't watched many of the comedy's but I love the drama's and adventure shows. I am hooked on MI-5, Torchwood and Robin Hood and watch one of these almost everyday.(God bless Dvd boxed sets)
