Anybody like/listen to Peter Gabriel?...
I got his 2 disc greatest hits set "Hit and Miss". Really liking it. His big singles like "Solsbury Hill", "Shock The Monkey", "Sledgehammer", "Steam", "Big Time", "Red Rain", and "Growing Up" are all one there. I know he was known for his crazy funky videos in the 80's, but his music is actually pretty good IMO.

I like Genesis as well, I've got Turn It On Again: Greatest Hits. But I don't like Phil Collins solo albums. Too soft and contemporary for my taste.Originally posted by Gerpeter gabriel has written some great songs and was smart enough to leave genesis. How I wish, how I wish you were here. Re: Anybody like/listen to Peter Gabriel?...
Agreed. A much better solo artist than as a band member. His style is progressive art rock (which I prefer) over Collins soft pop contemporary rock. Gabriel is definently up there for all time classic rock solo artists. Maybe not on the level of an Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, or Neil Young, but he still ranks high up there.Originally posted by Gerok i'll admit theres a couple of genesis songs i like. but in any event it was better for gabriel to leave. he had a VERY successful solo career. i dont know if he would had matched that kinda success with genesis. How I wish, how I wish you were here. Re: Anybody like/listen to Peter Gabriel?...
there is a similarity between early genesis and early pink floyd. peter gabriel and syd barret were extremely eccentric and when they both left their respective bands im sure everyone including the band thought it was all over. but its nice to see bands stay strong and some become even greater.Comment

Again, agreed. I see you know your music. I'm a HUGE Pink Floyd fan and the whole Floyd/Genesis/Barrett/Gabriel comparison makes sense to me. Barrett and Gabriel obviously had their own vision for music and needed to break away. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Growing Up is amazing. Sometimes they play it in HD on INHD and then it becomes doubly amazing. If you like that, I also recommend his Secret World DVD. It's not as technically great as Growing Up, but I like the music on it a little better and PG is considerably younger in it.Originally posted by headrulz101My brother bought the Live DVD called "Growing Up".
