    Need some music suggestions

I'm kinda getting bored with my current music selection, which consists of either louder, faster songs (Green Day, Franz Ferdinand, Lostprophets) or more downer-mood songs (Jimmy Eat World, Straylight Run). I'm looking for something within the "rock" or "alternative" genres, if you will (or something fairly close), but something that's easy to listen to, possibly more of an acoustic sound. Something upbeat would be preferred. Any suggestions?

Upbeat/rocking(not like GD, FF or Lostprophets though):
The New Pornographers - Find the songs "Letter From An Occupant", "Mass Romantic", "The Laws Have Changes" or "Twin Cinema."
        Spoon - Anything
        The White Stripes - Anyhting
The Dismemberment Plan - The songs "What Do You Want Me TO Say?" and "Time Bomb" are good starts

        Acoustic/softer stuff:
The Shins - They have two albums, listen to anythign from either(specifically the song "New Slang" got me started on them).
Bright Eyes - The albums "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" and "Lifted...."
Stars - The song "Calendar Girl" and pretty much anythign else from "Set Yourself on Fire"
Sufjan Stevens - Anything from the "Illinois" album

I could go on and on, but I"ll stop. As for finding this stuff, use www.pandora.com and type in the band names to hear one song by them(a random song unfortunately). You can skip the other stuff to find more by the band you type in, but you can only skip so many per hour. The best way to do it is to start a new station(just type in a band name in the blank) then under the options for that station type in the names of other bands you want to hear, everytime you type a new one in, the next song will be from them.

Also use music.yahoo.com to find videos from a lot of these bands. Usually a pretty good place to start since those are the singles, usually among the more accesible of their songs.

          That's not really "upbeat" though.

Alternative: try Brendan Benson or Kyuss

The two are entirely different though. Brendan Benson is hard-rock pop ala the White Stripes and Kyuss was the precursor to Queens of the Stone Age.

Fresh Tendrils, ss much as I like Iron & Wine, they aren't upbeat at all. But in that mood, have you heard Sigur Ros? It's an Icelandic band that's got that soothing sound like I&E. It's a completely different sound and in a different language, but it's very, VERY good. Listen to Ny Batteri, The Nothing Song, and Vaka.

... I just heard Iron & Wine on an M&Ms commercial... weird.

I don't know. I don't find Sam Beam's music to be depressing or darkening at all. The acoustics and his soft voice are uplifting and takes some of the attention away from his lyrics.

They make up their own language for a lot of their songs, with a mix of Icelandic in between, the vocals are just another instrument to all English speaking listeners. I've always wanted to give them a good listen, i've tried half-heartedly a few times but always stop shortly after. What album would you suggest if I wanted to start out?

I actually just started listening to Sigur Ros recently, so I'm not sure yet.

From what I read, they have the music, then he adds lyrics that just sound good with the music, but it's just complete and utter jibberish that he calls "Hopelandic." Then he later adds the lyrics. But they did release an entire album in Hopelandish. It's called ( ).
