    iTrip

    Who has one?

I don't have a tape deck in my car, so I'd have to go this route.. anything to add, positive comments, complaints, etc?

No matter what FM Transmitter you get, you probably aren't going to get good transmission. I've yet to hear of one that works successfully the majority of the time.

My buddy has one, works flawlessly.

Worthless purchase in my opinion though, because I hate the radio.

I have an iTrip and I'm glad I bought it.

I don't have to fumble around with my CD's while driving anymore.

Have to disagree here. I have the Belkin Tunecast II(it is like $15 cheaper at Wal-Mart than at an electronics store, just a heads up) and it works almost flawlessly. I had problems with it at first, first I couldn't figure outhow to turn it on(yes, seriously), you have to hold both buttons to turn it on, weird. Then I just pumped my MP3 player(a Creative Jukebox 40 GB) as loud as it could go. Doing that was a huge mistake, really craps out the reception quality on your radio. I turned it down a bit(to around 18 out of 25 sound levels) on my MP3 player and just turned up my radio a bit, and it has worked fine ever since.

I said it works almost flawlessly because I get a very slight buzz when I play quieter music through it, which may be a product of crappy speakers turned up too loud, I'm not really sure.

If you are looking into an FM transmitter, make sure you get one that works for all FM frequencies, the older models come with only 4(or so) preset frequencies. They usually work, but if you are unlucky enough to be in an area where those 4 are being used, you are sort of SOL. So get one that works on any frequency to be safe.

Worthless purchase in my opinion though, because I hate the radio.
The whole idea of buying one is to avoid listening to the radio....

An FM Transmitter sends whatever you play on your MP3 player to your radio, so you can hear your MP3 music through your car stereo, thus avoiding having to listen to normal radio stations. It's for people who's car stereos don't have a tape deck or an audio in plug up.

I have the same one or I did, until I hooked my up through the back of my radio, it worked fine and I never had a problem with it.

Hrm, interesting. I guess I'll have to look into reviews of some of the more recent releases.

                      Re: iTrip

I just got one for Christmas and Ive been having trouble getting it to work right. I got the one with the LCD screen and the silver knob which lets you change stations without having to do it through your iPod and install the annoying frequency tracks like the old one. The problem is, my car, Honda Accord, for whatever reason, the radio is very strong, so it picks up almost every station, even the stations on the lower frequencies which come in as static on other radios I own. So when I took it out in the car today, when it played, it played through some bad static, so I tried to turn up the volume on the iPod, and my iTrip has automatic volume lowering on it to lower the distortion, so it kept turning it down until the volume until it was on mute. It was really frustrating and to make things worse, the station that would work the best (87.7 FM) isnt one of the stations I can select from, they start at 88.1 FM.

I got one for my card, I think it was an iTrip, it's crap, I constantly have to move my iPod around to get any signal, and when I do its bad static. My dad got one that not only plays it but also charges the iPod. I'm looking into buying one.
