Sevendust Greatest Hits

Sevendust just released a Greatest Hits album yesterday. Has anyone picked it up yet? I was going to go get it today as there are unreleased tunes on there and best of all, Best Buy has it for $9.99 - 16 songs.

Ill probably pick it up. I havent purchased any of their CDs after their first release. Seeing them in conert next month though with Nonpoint. Should be a good show.

Eh, I'm intrigued by the non-album tracks, but not enough to actually buy the collection.

That's the thing about compilations/greatest hits albums. Some are very well put together without anything major missing, others are just slapped together hastily without giving too much thought.

There are a few songs that I could name that are missing from that list. Greatest Hits are HIT or MISS most of the time. I bought this for the Sevendust Collection, since I'm missing 2 of their Studio Albums I could get some of the songs off of them on here.

I'm always for 2 Disc Greatest Hits packages as opposed to 1. Look at LIVE, they only had 1 cd and they could have easily have had 2 cd's for their greatest hits.

Let's see if Sevendust can make it past the GREATEST HITS syndrome. Ususally when a band releases a GRH their career goes downhill sometimes.

Let's see if Sevendust can make it past the GREATEST HITS syndrome. Ususally when a band releases a GRH their career goes downhill sometimes.

A few scenarios produce a GH album (declining popularity, a band growing apart, etc.), but the situation that sparked the release of this album is a contract obligation to get out from underneath TVT Records.

That's certainly one way to go about it. Provided you're willing to sift through a band's entire catalog. For me, as I'm sure it is for a lot of people, it depends on the band/artist. I love Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, so naturally I own all their albums and theirs no need for me to buy a greatest hits album. I also like Steve Miller Band, but I don't like them to the point that I wanna buy all their albums, I just want the hits. Therefore I just have their greatest hits album.

I'll tell ya what, AC/DC really needs to get off their laurels and get a greatest hits album going. Hard to believe they don't have one for as long as they've been around. Like you, I would prefer the 2 disc treatment as they have so many hits. I've got their 2 disc live cd which is still pretty good and the closest thing in their catalog to a greatest hits package. Van Halen has a 2 disc greatest hits album The Best of Both Worlds, which I also have and is really good. I know some people think that greatest hits packages are for "fair weather fans" but I personally love'em. Their are so many bands that I like, but I don't wanna buy all their albums.

BOBW was a disappointment for hardcore VH fans. Not enough songs, no Gary Cherone. It was just a release by VH bros to make $$$$$$.

Yeah, a 4 disc AC/DC anthology would be great. I'd gobble that up in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I'm not a hardcore VH fan, I just wanted their big hits. I agree with you, it's not very comprehensive.
