Like I said, GH packages are hit and miss. Pink Floyd put together a 2 disc set Echoes:The Best of Pink Floyd recently which IMO was an absolute joke. There were so many glaring ommissons. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

Originally posted by Victor99Yup. Red, White, and Crue. I've got it. Now that is what a GH package should be. Very comprehensive and well put together. The true goal of a GH album or anthology is that it paints an overview of a band/artist's entire career. RWC is a great example of that.Comment

Look at KISS, no new material for almost a decade but they keep on releasing GRH's albums. Just crazy imo.Comment

Unless it's Kiss we're talking about. Those guys will do anything humanly possible for a dollar. Kiss Kaskets, anyone?Comment

Re: Sevendust Greatest Hits
Originally posted by BGarrett7Well, to be fair, in the case of artists who haven't put out any new material, the record labels put out the repackaged greatest hits packages to keep the artist relevent and in the public eye. A lot of the time the band itself has nothing at all to do with that.

Originally posted by Victor99Yep. Kiss, another one of my favorites. Lynyrd Skynrd is the same way, they have almost as many GH compilations as they do regular albums. They just continue to whore themselves to any record company.

Re: Sevendust Greatest Hits
I acquired it a couple days ago and listened to it yesterday afternoon. It's pretty much exactly what I expected, but after listening to it, the tracklist isn't that bad. I still think "Broken Down," "Xmas Day," "Licking Cream," "Fall," and "My Ruin" would have made better tracks than some of the ones chosen, but what ya gonna do? The "Inner City Blues" cover is absolutely phenomenal, and the Seasons b-sides hold up well with the material that did end up on the CD. It only further disappoints me that they couldn't get together with Butch to work on Next which, to this point, has been a pretty big disappointment to me. It really is no surprise that the two CDs they worked with Butch on -- Sevendust and Seasons -- have proven to be their strongest collections, with Home following a very close second. I guess the collection would be a nice introduction to someone who is just trying to get into them, but is pretty much a throwaway for anyone who already has the albums, unless you desperately need the four b-sides and covers.Comment
