Anyone use DirectV and have HDTV??
I know that cable offers more HDTV channels, but I like DirectV's sports lineup a heck of a lot more. The only thing holding me back is being able to get my local channels in HD without having to use an antenna. Plus, DTV is running a nice little deal to come on with them. Anyone get HD from DTV and can tell me how you like it and their HD channels?? THANKSTags: None -

I have DTV and the HD package. You have to have the antenna, at least for now, to get local HD. I've heard the cable companies offer HD local channels. I have no issues, since I do have an HD OTA antenna on the roof, but I can't wait until DTV offers the locals in HD, so I can take it down. -
Re: Anyone use DirectV and have HDTV??
Yes and I get more locals in HD now than I did with Comcast digital cable. CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX all in HD. Also, the over-the-air antenna picks up different feeds of certain channels, so I can watch say, one of four different things on CBS HD at any given time. The one crappy thing that has happened is that my local, non-HD channel is from Springfield, MA, but all of the HD channels for CBS are from Hartford, CT. One time, on the non-HD channel, the Chargers - Chiefs were on, but there was a different game on the HD channels. Because of this, the Chargers game was blacked out on Sunday Ticket, so if I wanted to watch it in HD, i was out of luck.
But DTV is great. I get so many channels that I didn't get with Comcast, including every single Fox Sports Net imaginable. I've gotten to watch quite of few college basketball games this season because the college games don't get blacked out. I saw the Duke vs VTech game on FSNY, and both UMass games the past two nights on MSG. Also, when there are two different college basketball games on at one time on CBS, you'll be able to watch both the east coast and west coast games. A few weeks ago my CBS got the Duke - Texas game, but that was a blowout, so I was able to flip over to the other CBS and watch the Gonzaga - Oklahoma State.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

Yeah we get our locals through the satallite. I remember that I had to watch the Pats on CBS's non-HD channel because our OTA antenna hadn't come in yet. If you want your local channels in HD, you'll need the OTA antenna.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

These aren't really local channels for me though, because DirectTV isn't allowed to give me the local stations according to some contract agreement. So, I'm in VA but my CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX channels are based out of New York and Los Angeles.Comment

I've got a question about that. When there are two college football games on ABC, do you get both of them, one on ABC East and one on ABC West?Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment
