Question about power

I was just curious:

I have my computer hooked up to a power supply, as you know a computer has to plug many things in, i think its something like 5 things. Basically if i turn the power supply off it will turn off my computer, and my modem also ( and if the 360 is on it will shut that off too because the modem is connected to it)

My question is can i leave the power supply on forever and be ok, as long as the thing in my room are off. I always have the power supply on because my brother is on the internet late at night..so if i turn it off he cant get a connection downstairs. But thats the only thing running in my room at night, the power supply.

This probably is hard to comprehend...i just wanna know if im creating a fire waiting to happen, i have been ok in the past ( been like this for 2 years) but i just wanna make sure

well if i haven't created a fire yet in my apartment, your safe..

i have a power surge protector that i use, both where my TV/stereo/xbox is an in my bedroom, where my CPU is.. so far so good for me - i just turn the CPU on & off, not the power protector..
