I'll probably go see it either tonight or next Saturday... I still have the NFL playoffs hogging up my weekend at this point.... Neville Shed provided an entertaining and interesting interview on WFNZ in Charlotte yesterday... He mentioned how at the time, they (the team) didn't really view it as black vs. white, they were just out to play ball... The scope of what they did didn't really hit them until much later when people told them how their accomplishment helped knock doors down for others to take advantage....

Re: Glory Road
So were they the first team to win it all starting 5 black players, or the first team ever to start 5 black players?"You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Re: Glory Road
Re-hashing this a little since it recently came out on DVD.
I was pretty disappointed in this. There was very little character development and the scenes, basketball and non-basketball, were just too short and jumpy. Cliches were pretty much flying around as well. Disney has trouble with sports movies sometimes, though I will say The Rookie and Miracle were pretty well done, especially the latter (no, I'm not a Remember The Titans fan.....I thought the acting was weak and the drama was really forced sometimes). I think this one was the case whereby the trailer made it look like it was going to be a blockbuster, but just made me go "ehh".Comment

Re: Glory Road
I loved it, saw it in the theaters and then again when the DVD came out. Thought it was well acted, and for a Disney film, stayed pretty true to the real story of what happened.Comment

gotta love disney skewing the truth. i watched it and seemed to enjoy it. only now do i realize how many lies were in there to make it a "winner".
the players and coach couldve sold the movie in and of itself. but disney chose a diff. route to take.
definetly a movie of extreme emotions.i wonder if the players felt any anamocity towards their apparent new fans after they won. a huge difference from them not even getting recognized at their first game. i wouldve liked to have seen this movie done by someone diff. its more fiction than non fiction in some regardLast edited by RubenDouglas; 06-24-2006, 01:14 PM.Comment
