i havent seen that movie, but i was talking more in a biblical sense. personally, i would never get one of those even if they became mandatory, which i wouldnt think they would ever try and do.

There are a lot of people who will be resistant to this sort of thing, because of their belief system, or a fear of Big Brother. It will however become very popular because many of us(Americans) want things as easy and as effortless as possible, and it will be a 21st century status symbol. It will create some schizms in our society based on economic status and/or ideology, but thats the case with every new piece of technology.

There are a lot of people who will be resistant to this sort of thing, because of their belief system, or a fear of Big Brother. It will however become very popular because many of us(Americans) want things as easy and as effortless as possible, and it will be a 21st century status symbol. Something like this would be unprecedented. Of course it'll be voluntary in the beginning but then it'll become the standard by which everything is done. Those who are resistant to it for some reason or another will be FORCED to have chips in them or else they'll starve, have no job, no food, NADA!

Oh and I love how everyone says it's so easy when you have the chips. Let's say you need a chip for banking. I'd like to see how easy it is when a criminal cuts off the person's arm so they can access the victim's money.

yeah, crooks will cut off your finger and carry it with them to buy stuff. Anyway, actual cash will be a thing of the past pretty soon.

I'm sure there will be a way to implement a "tamper" system with these chips, so that people can tell if they've been forcibly removed from a person's body, or if an appendage has been hacked off to get access to a chip. Additionally, people probably voiced the same economic divide argument when the first computer was built. "Pretty soon they're going to force you to have a computer or you'll starve, be out of a job, have no food, etc." As we've seen, computers have just made everything easier but in no way have they led to the exstinction of people who don't have enough money, or the desire, to buy a computer.

So, imo, your post is a gross overdramatization regarding the impact of this technology on our culture. I'm pretty sure we won't see a situation of being lined up and forced to undergo modifications to our bodies in order to become some sort of cyborgs, though that part of your post was a nice touch in terms of fearmongering....

I do have a question for you. Let's say that we're in a cashless society, how are people without the chips going to function? It won't be practical to have a paper currency when a vast majority have gone cashless?

If you have a reader that can read a chip embedded under someone's skin, couldn't it just easily read a card that someone is holding, like a credit card or ID badge work in current society? If people want the added "convenience" of having their chips embedded inside their bodies so they don't forget them and leave them places, then they're free to do so. But anyone who doesn't trust that technology could just have their chip on a card they carry with them. Problem solved!

Well we'll see how things advance in the next couple decades or so. At least you allayed some fears on my part.
