yeah that's all you have to do. If you don't want to rip the whole 8 GB to your harddrive, use something like DVDShrink and just rip the movie and save some space.

ok guys I just got a new laptop and I was wondering about ripping movies to my cpu, do I just put them in and go to windows media player and burn them to my computer? As Gilateen said, a tutorial would be great.

all you guys need to do is get a DVD to AVI converter/ripper. it'll rip the whole movie and it can be anywhere from 100mb to 3gb Video file (sometimes it depends on your quality). search google. there are hundreds of programs http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/ar...dvdtodivx.html

i used nero recode. its the best program i've used so far. it beats dvdshrink and clonedvd in terms of speed. it takes lke an hr to recode and the results are the same with dvdshrink which takes like 2-3 hrs a dvd. i suggestu get it.

thanks. So I can just put the .vob files in a folder on the cpu. I would have 1 folder for each movie?

Wow, wish I knew how to do all this. If I ripped movies to AVI, then I could send them over to my video ipod. Man, that would be saweeet. Anybody got a basic tutorial going from putting the dvd in my computer to getting to avi? Thanks a bunch.

if you compress them all the way, they start looking a little crappy. I usually don't compress the main title of a movie more than 30%. Special features and all get compressed all the way though.

yeah, I am going to just delete the special features and title screen. Just put the actual movie itself on the computer. If I ever need to view the special features I will just pop the original dvd in the player.

DVD Shrink will do the trick. But I've discovered certain movies can't be ripped to the hard drive though.
