    iPod video question

Ok, I have the new iPod video, got it for Christmas, and I finally decided to try and put some video on it....

Well, it doesn't work. My files are mpeg's, maybe thats why they won't work? I updated my iPod software, and that wasn't it either.

When I try and drag my videos onto the iPod it says, "they cannot be played on this ipod". So is it in the wrong file format? And where can I go to change them? I tryed looking on the apple website, but couldn't figure it out. Thanks.

I thought you could only play iTunes videos on it, I could be wrong, I don't own an iPod.

Nah, you can play any videos...

You just have to convert them...which I just found out how to do.

Yep...it's a pain! I converted all of the Office season 1 & 2 and have them iPod ready as well as a few Friends episodes. I'll probably do 1-2 Family Guy and then I"ll be done. I'll hardly ever watch video on it (it hurts my eyes to watch it for too long) but want a good supply on there in case I want to hook it up to a TV to watch them.

It's not worth it, you can only watch video for about 3 hours before the battery dies.

Ya... that would suck for all those 3+ hour long movies.

Diesel, is the software easy to use? I've got the 30gb video as well and I'm going to load it up with some family guy and other random stuff. Any pointers on using the program?

EDIT: Also, do you have to have a dvd r/rw drive or do you just have to put it on the hard drive?

if your talking about putting dvds on the ipod.. all you need is a dvdrom drive or dvdrw. either works.. just convert the dvd to avi, and then avi to mp4
