My new Dell didn't come with one so i'm thinking of going out and getting one but I have no clue on how to install the internal ones. I may just go out and get the external one but to save a little money, anyone know how to install the internal burners?

There will be instructions inside if you buy one. It isn't too tough. First you will set your new drive to slave (it will tell you how), then you just connect the data cable (looks like a ribbon, and one might be coming off your existing CD drive) and then connect the power cable to the new drive. If you look at your existing CD drive you will see a data cable and power cable plugged into it, so do it just like that. The key thing is just to make sure you have the master-slave settings correct. There should be some picture diagrams to help you with that.Originally posted by cjonesfan921
Getting an external one would be easier, but it will cost a little more unless you buy the drive and external enclosure separately and put them together.

aukevin pretty much summed it up. Its a definite DYI project.. dont take it to a PC shop.
