MP3 Player suggestions??
What does everyone have for their MP3 player of choice? Recommendations? I bought a video iPOD an realized how overpriced they are. I don't care much for the video capabilites of a player. I was strongly considering the Creative Labs Zen Micro Photo player- 8 GB for $249. It has twice the capacity as the iPod Nano (4 GB) for the same price.Tags: None -
Re: MP3 Player suggestions??
Let the flame war begin between iPod owners and non-iPod owners ...
To answer your question, I have owned a Creative Zen Xtra 40GB player for more than two years and LOVE it. Got it for $225 when a 40GB iPod retailed for $399, and you'll see similar savings between Creative and Apple players today.
The Creative has slightly better sound quality than the iPod, and that's more important to me than anything.
But I think the claims that regular or video iPods sound lousy are overrated. Their sound isn't quite as good as some rival players such as Creative or IRiver, but the gap is minimal. And the iPod's ergonomics and massive aftermarket accessory market more than compensate.
But the iPod Nano does sound lousy compared to other players. I spent some time with a Nano over Christmas and was amazed how tinny the treble and weak the bass was on the Nano compared to the regular iPod, using the same headphones, and compared to my Creative. Apparently the Nano uses a different sound chip than the regular and video iPods due to its miniscule size, and it's a change for the worse if you care about sound quality, in my opinion.
I could continue by saying most iPod purchasers don't care much about sound quality but about being trendy, but I won't go there ...
Seriously, good luck with your purchase.
Take care,

I have the iPod video, and it works great. I have the 30 gig, which is $299, or cheaper if you buy off eBay. It sounds great, have had zero problems. It all depends on what you want. If you only plan on having only a few hundred songs or whatever, don't go with the Nano. My roomie has it, and it is awful. Besides sound quality, it just has a bunch of problems. (He has had to send it back already once in two months). So, I would go with a less popular brand than Apple if you aren't looking for a lot of songs.
But....I got the iPod video because I go to a couple of concerts a month, and always shoot video. Plus, it has good sound quality and 30 gigs is more than I need.Comment

I personally have an Iriver & Iaudio (which COWON is the actual brand). Both of these brands are great, you can transfer files anyway you want, watch videos on some models, etc.
I would checkout those brands, also Creative is good. Just get something that has the options you want and you will be happy with. You can find most of these brands cheaper than ipods, but they basicly have the same qualtiy between them all, most people can't tell the difference between sound output.Comment

Well if you were thinking of getting a Zen Micro Photo for 249, you might as well keep the Video ipod for 50 more bucks. You would be getting 22 more gb's for just 50 bucks.
I have a Dell DJ, which I love. I don't think Dell is selling them anymore for now because a new one will be coming out soon. I think Creative makes them for Dell anyway so you could just get a Creative.
Also I recently sold a Toshiba Gigabeat on ebay that I won in a contest. It was a 10gb one and sold for $165. It is color, you can view photos on it and has a bigger screen than most other mp3 players. So i'd look into that as well.Yankees

I have the sandisk m230 512mb player. I got it for $65 at CC. I didn't need a mp3 that held more than this because what i do is just drag and drop new albums listen to them and then delete them.Comment

Re: MP3 Player suggestions??
Is Dell coming out with a mp3 player with video capabilities? As just to listen to music I would get the Dell DJ 20 but I would really like an mp3 player with video on it and for 50 more dollars, I could get the IPod video with 30 more gigs and video on it. Is there any other mp3 players with video capabilities?Cowboys - Thunder - AthleticsComment
