    Speeding ticket...

Allright here is the scenario. Im coming back from working in Detroit and heading to Chicago on 90/94. All through Michigan, the speed limit is like 75 but everyone is going like 100. Its crazy.

So i get to the 2.50 toll plaza to us e the "chcicago Skyway" and start driving after paying the toll. I reach a speed that seems Ok and accelarate to pass a truck on my right. Cop in front shoots out and pulls me over. He was pissed.

What are you doing 90 on my highway for!"

    "90!" I say

    "yes! give me your license!"

Takes my license and then rights a ticket and says you have a mandatory court date then walks away. Guy didn't even give me a shot!

So the question is, what the hell type of fines/penalties am i looking at?

    Reckless? $500 ticket!

I have a lawyer so will that help on the court date.

If anyone has had a similiar case or knows chciago traffic laws, respond please. Thanks.

Oh yeah I was driving an 05 WRX

      Nothing really.

State troopers are asses, and most likely you'll have to pay the fine.

Speeding Tickets are the hardest things to get out of once they are written. There is no way you can prove you were only doing the speed limit. The only thing you can say is that you were trying to pass up the truck, and the truck blocked your vision of the speed limit.

      Good luck

Take it to court and contest it. I always contest my speeding tickets, and always get them off.

Any ideas on what the "fine" would be. I got a speeding ticket in wisconsin one time that was for 275, and I was only going 19 over that time? (6 years ago...)

Dude, just call your lawyer and take it to court.

Same here. You'll never get a say when he gives you the ticket (at least I never have).

However, I've always had my tickets reduced in court. I've never taken a lawyer either. Just dress nice (suit and tie) and tell the Judge your side of the story. Make sure to always address the Judge by saying "Sir" and NEVER say a bad thing about the officer who pulled you over. Remember the officer and Judge are on the same side.

Typically I'm happy as long as they eliminate the points. I'll pay the fine, but the points in PA are what really hurts.

Why not take a lawyer? Everytime I have gotten a speeding ticket, I have hired a lawyer, had him go to court with me, and he got it off everytime. Plus, my older brother has probably had 20 speeding tickets in his day, and he has only had one stay on his record//one that he just paid. He has contested all others and got them off with the help of a lawyer.

Its a crazy system we live in, in this country, take advantage of it.

Court dates are always mandatory when you get a speeding ticket that big, aren't they?

No you can usually just pay the fine instead of going to your court date. This is what most people do.

Don't you always have to appear in court for big tickets, or reckless, racing tickets, etc?
