Concert Poster (opinions needed)
In my digital imaging class I need to design a poster for an event. After running through some ideas I decided to do a concert poster. I went with the Foo Fighters and this is what I got so far. I need your guys opinions/critiques. Thanks again

Re: Concert Poster (opinions needed)
I hate sounding artistic and critical of other people's photoshops, but here it goes....Seen as how its supposed to be a concert poster, I'd almost put the date/time/location below the picture of the band. Also, you have that guitar at the top and it makes your eyes go towards the right, but all that's there is "Presents" and some dead space, so I think you could maybe do something with that. Finally, I'm not too fond of the change of font when you get to "The Foo Fighters". But aside from being artistic, it's very nicely done
EDIT: This is kinda bothering me cause I'm tryin to play with it in Photoshop to see what would look good, and I have it kinda how I think it should be, but the guitar is bothering me cause it leads ur eyes to the right an it seems sorta empty with only the "Presents", but you can't fit anything else thereLast edited by bjf1377; 01-27-2006, 01:03 AM. -

I agree about the guitar and the font. Change the font for "Foo Fighters" as it will draw more attention because it is different. Also, put the date/time/location at the bottom. Don't want to have your text all jumbled at the top.

Re: Concert Poster (opinions needed)
i suggest (if you have time) looking at other posters advertising rock shows to get some ideas and inspiration. i saw this book in barnes and noble in the arts section that was just filled with rock posters. some awesome stuff in there. i dont recall the title..something like art of modern rock. i believe theres a classic rock one too.
this one just seems...boring. it doesnt grab the eye of the viewer, theres some direction but it just doesnt keep you interested. know what i mean? a lot of posters i've seen are wild and colorful. (not saying you have to go psychadelic but you just need to liven it up a bit imo.) its a rock band with energy. thus the poster should as well.
but as with any piece of art its all subjective. just my humble professional artistic opinion
also move the text away from the edge of the picture. tangents are nasty.Comment

Re: Concert Poster (opinions needed)
I know everyone is giving you some critiques. But I just want to say that it looks REALLY good! If I didn't know before hand, I would have thought that was a real poster.Comment

Just a side note...
Dave Grohl comes into the Baskin Robbins I work at quite often. I've helped him many, many times. I guess he lives in Encino. Very nice guy, he's hilarious.Comment

Yeah dude, he's very nice. Always leaves a tip too. One time, he said he just got back from Japan, and all the cash he had was in Yen, so he gave me a 1000 yen. He's like "Here man, take this as the tip, I dont even know how much it is". I had it converted and it was like 9 bucks or so.
If you ever see him with a Baskin shirt somewhere, you know where he got it from. I just wanna give him one for the hell of it, since he comes in so often.Comment
