Just saw the preview on TNT and it looked pretty hot on the real. I'm in debate about watching it. I wonder if that was what he was shooting when he was away from Comedy Central.

If you like hip hop this is a must see... Its a nice live performances and its seems to be fun for them to hang around each other. Something that seems lost in the game right now. Not really a comedy show but enjoyable all the same.

i went and saw the movie a couple weeks ago. agree with BigTig. it's more about the music than the comedy, so if you like the acts in the movie (Kweli, Mos, Common, Fugees, etc., etc.) than you should really enjoy it.

Very good "documentary" type movie that didn't get it's due because everyone wanted Dave to scream, "I'm Rick James!"

          Unfortunate.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

i read it was very musicial driven and only a few funny "chappelle show" type antics... kinda sad people cant appreciate this type of stuff.

Yeah it was a really good movie and he had some great music on there.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Yeah I really enjoyed it, must see for hip hop fans. One of my friends saw it and he doesn't even like hip hop or rap at all and he enjoyed it, though I doubt this would be the case with most people.

                  The DVD is a disappointment.

I expected to see a lot more of the concert in the unrated DVD but only a couple of songs are shown from start to finish. I have a feeling another DVD showing more concert footage will be released within the next year.

You can't go wrong with the musical acts (Kayne West, John Legend, Fugees, Common, Dead Prez, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, etc..)

Most of the comedy bits weren't really funny.

Considering the Block Party took place in September 04, I wonder what took so long for the movie to be released in the theatres.

I rented the movie a couple weeks ago and loved it, so I bought it the other day, its probably my favorite movie right now...I love the music, I am a fan of all of the acts that were there, I wasnt expecting it to be like the show at all, and I was right...but I think it was for the better...I hope they release a DVD showing more of the concert though.
