    Riddle, impossibly hard

Ok guys, prove yourselves. I couldn't figure this one out, and I'm usually good at these (my friend sent it to me).

One man has six of them, two men have 8.
If women have them, they are halved.
If children use them, they have 18.
I have none, but you have several.
They are red at day and black at night.

Any guesses? It's obviously some sort of wordplay. I've thought of syllables, age, teeth... anything! I'm completely stumped. Any OSers up for the challenge?

I was thinking cigs or lottery tickets at first...

but the first and third lines really make this impossible.

The first two lines would make me think of birthdays or something. Children have 18 irthdays before they are adults and women usually lie about their age.

                  Some German thing supposedly.

I honestly don't know if this can be solved. My friend doesn't know it, either.

There is no answer, it's an unanswerable riddle.

I remember a riddle that went something like:

                        What is greater than God,
                        More evil than the devil,
                        Poor people have it,
                        Rich people need it,
And if you eat it you will die?

And the answer was Nothing. Not that there was no answer, but the answer was... literally... Nothing.

                        Nothing is greater than God,
Nothing is more evil than the devil,
                        Poor people have Nothing,
                        Rich people need Nothing,
And if you eat Nothing you will die.

Unfortunately, I can't think of something for this one that's as cliché as that.

                          Yeah, I remember that riddle.

I always thought the answer was "dirt" until someone told me what it actually was.

I've resorted to trying to find this one online.

I thought the saying was: "God made dirt; dirt won't hurt." Never did see it as evil, but whatever way you see it I guess...

Yeah the whole devil line really screwed up that theory...and the rich don't really want it, but it fit all the other ones.

And I've found the answer "serifs" for this one...still looking though, sicne I dont know what that is.
