    SNL

Hmm...while I was reading Schrute-Space there was an ad for this week's SNL.

The host is Steve Martin with musical guest Prince.

    Indeed.

Steve Martin is still an extremely funny guy. Should be a great episode.

Steve Martin is still a funny guy. I'm going to see the PINK PANTHER. I'm not so hot on Prince. I've never really liked his "singing" save for a couple songs. (party like it's 1999" and "kiss")

I'm torn on Prince. I've listened to a handful of his songs and I just don't know what I think about him. I recognize how good he was/is, but I'm not sure how much I like his music. Maybe I'll queue up one of his albums after Allman Brothers Band.

The thing about Prince is that he's very good at setting the tempo and mood of his songs. He's basically a funk musician but I can't get past his voice. I will give him props for his musicianship tho.

I love Prince's "Purple Rain" album. Got it in my collection. This actually sounds like a potentially interesting episode of SNL. Maybe we'll see Dan Aykroyd and/or Chevy Chase make a cameo?

I agree about Prince being able to set a mood and atmosphere. I don't mind his voice though, but I don't know how much I can get into his music. I guess I'll be able to make a better decision after I listen to Dirty Mind.

Who played Steve Martin's brother in the skit where they are "TWOOOO WILLLLLDDDDDD AND CRAZZZYYYYY GUYSSSSS!"

I laugh everytime I see that. Such a funny skit, I'd love to see them remake that like they did Celebrity Jeopardy when Will Ferrell hosted.

That was Ackroyd. The thing is, a lot of those skits really resonate within the time period in which they're aired, but now (imo) they really seem tired and dated and not nearly as funny as they were when they were first aired. For that reason, I hope they don't remake any of Martin's old skits.

I remember when John Cleese hosted SNL and they did a re-enactment of the cheese shop sketch with Michael Palin from Monty Python. The original skit was friggin' hilarious back in the day, but the remake was a really lame, bastardized version that made me realize how old those two guys have gotten.

It was Kevin Spacey who hosted that show (same episode as the hilarious Star Wars auditions).

Ah, right. And I made another mistake, it was the parrot sketch and not the cheese shop one. But whatever, my main point still remains.

Those Star Wars auditions were tremendous....LOL. "Jawas? What the hell is this picture about anyways...."
