I'm curious how much the blade refills are... $20-$30?

Why are razors so expensive? Are they becoming some sort of rare resource? Are razor minors running out of fresh mines, thus causing supply and demand to sky rocket?

It's ****ing idiotic how much those people charge for their products.

But yes, I will buy one eventually.

            Re: Gillette Fusion

I got it in the mail last week as well. Sound like a bunch of us have a subscription (SportingNews maybe?) or are on the same mailing list! Nothing like free products though!

I used it last week and wasn't impressed to be honest. My Mach 3 felt smoother and seemed to give a closer shave. I'll try the Fusion again (afterall, it was free), but I think the Mach 3 is better for me.

EDIT - I should also mention the version I got in the mail was not the battery powered one.

You probably won't have to wait long.

I used the non-power version last night and the razor is actually fantastic. Definitely the best razor I've ever used. Currently I'm using the M3 Power with Mach3 blades but I might switch to the non-powered Fusion, depending on the cost of the blades.

                      Re: Gillette Fusion

OK, just one to jump in on this one. I got the powered version last Tuesday and have used it twice. I'm a head shaver as well as face and was due to pick up some new blades for my M3Power when I saw the Fusion display at Walmart. I decided to try the new razor since the price for a new Fusion is $4 less than the price of a 4 pack of Mach 3 blades (4-pack of Fusion blades is about the same as Mach 3's ~$13-$14).

The razor glides smooth. Is it a tremendous increase in comfort over the M3? Not really. but it is a noticeable improvement. However, it does seem like it takes a lot less effort to remove the same amount of hair as the M3 (which means a lot shaving my head in the mornings).

Here's the two things that make this razor more than worth it to me.
                      1. Handle design. Much better rubberized grip with raised areas in more sensible places. Plus, the power button design is tons better. It's flat, almost recessed, meaning I don't accidentally cut the razor off when changing my hand positions (like shaving the back of my head). That was a big annoyance with the M3 (Nitro version, anyway).

                      2. Single blade edger. This addition makes the product by itself if you sport a mustache, goatee (like me), or sideburns. It's simple, no-nonsense, and it works. It makes shaving under my nose worlds easier than with the M3.

Don't mean to sound like a shill, but I've found my new permanent razor (at least until the next one comes out...)

I feel you, mang... I'm a head shaver as well, and from the first time that I used the Fusion, I was in love... I literally have to go over my dome just once (!!!) to get the clean shave that I want... I just got the manual one in the mail, so I'll just be sticking with that... I'm curious to see, though, how the battery operated one would work for me.

I got the power one. Worked great. As you tarheel, I fell in love. Greatest razor ever. Another good job by Gillette. Remember, "Gillette, the best a man can get."

Tip for buying blades cheap: EBay. Sounds weird but I've bought blades on there for a while. I can only use my Mach 3 blades once or twice before tossing so I use a lot. You can usually get them for about $1 each on Ebay vs. $2 in the store. All the blades I got were brand new, sealed in boxes and worked perfectly. I usually get about 64 at a time since the more you buy the more you save.
