Looking into Satellite Radio (need some help)

Ok, I've been researching XM and Sirus for a little bit now. I have a few friends who have XM, and they all love it. I don't know anyone who has Sirus though.

Now I know the lineups for each, and both have certain offerings that are better than the other.

I just want to get everyone's opinion, preferably from both sides. My biggest concern is how exactly I will be able to listen to the music in my car. I don't have a cassette drive and I'm a little weary about using an FM transmitter since I've used one for my MP3 player before and it get's real bad in big cities. What is like for satellite radio?

And one last thing, I don't have a lot of money to spend an extremely fancy receiver nor can I go way of installing something permanently in my car since it is a lease car.

    Thanks,
    DaHokieBird

I've had XM for almost a year. Got it for baseball but listen to it daily for the music and some other stations (comedy, sports, some news, etc.). The receiver I have is about $50-$75 now (I think) and it gets excellent reception with the FM transmitter. I rarely have any issues with static or interference.

Personally, I think XM has a fantastic line-up and would never switch to Sirius unless they got baseball...and even then I would probably still stick with XM.

But Sirius has the NFL. It sucks that XM wasn't willing to overspend to get all the major sports braodacasts.

I have Sirius and love it. Especially because they all the sports teams I like.

cant go wrong with either... i decided to bite & got both... the advantage that XM has is that it has several portable radios (almost like "walkmans) - the one I have is the MiFy.... also XM offers channel blocking wheras Sirrus does not (in case little kids were listening).. other than that it would be your preference...
