Scientists discover hundreds of new species in New Guinea

This is truly amazing. The thought of going to a place on Earth previously untouched and undiscovered by humans is remarkable to me. It must have been so awesome looking around seeing all these new creatures that were previously thought to be lost, or were previously unknown to exist at all. Hopefully the team of scientists can return this year to make more discoveries and catalog more creatures and plants.

It's almost like the island from King Kong or something....

Yep there's quite a few areas on earth where we haven't fully discovered. The only good thing about deforestation in the amazon rainforest is that scientists could actually discover new species.

Western New Guinea, which they mention belongs to Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea is pretty amazing from everything I've heard. There are supposedly tribes of people that are cannibals and are centuries behind the rest of the world as far as technology goes. I've never understood why they haven't explored the island more, but kind of glad that something like this has been left intact. Be really interesting to see what all is there.

Has Big Foot made an appearance yet? I think he got pissed off when he was filmed without his permission.

I wish humans would explore the depths of the oceans.

Well the oceans are called "the true Final Frontier" for a reason.
