    ESPN Mobile (Sanyo MVP)

Anybody have this phone? I was thinking about getting it....but the service does seem kind of pricey...........i wonder if im better off with getting verizon wireless and v-cast (where i know u can get espn highlights as well......just not sure what else u can use v-cast for)........

what do you all think? anybody here have any experiences you would like to share with v-cast? Is it worth it ($15 per month)?

I was going to look into ESPN but when I saw that 100 minutes cost $35 I put that out of my mind very quickly.

It's a ripoff and who knows what kind of service it has. I don't know all the features it has, but if you get cingular I think you can just download the espn bottom line for your phone. You don't even need that if you get internet access and you can check scores that way. It will be much cheaper as well.

Cingular's web access is fine for me. With the upgrade they did a while back, it's very easy to check scores of teams. It's all I need.

          ESPN Mobile is Sprint service.

I've got VCast and the web for $15/month with Verizon. I hardly ever use Vcast, but I use the web all the time for scores and they keep it updated pretty regularly. The $15 includes unlimited web, so that's the way to go IMO

I was looking into ESPN mobile as well, but the service is very pricey. And you receive 35 Mb/month of data with any of their packages and I'm not sure how quick that would go with all of the data they are pushes at you. It is something like $2.50/Mb after that.

It's not practical for me anyway. I can't bring my phone into work so I couldn't use it hardly at all.

Thanks for all your help..... everything that all you are saying is the same exact things my wife is telling me. She says the only reason i want the phone is because it has a 'shiny' ESPN logo on it....and she's probably right...all i really want is video highlights and score updates..stuff that i heard you can get with verizon's V-cast service.....so i may stick with verizon....

              thanks for the help....

I wish my cell phone had some kind of program where I could get score updates for all of my teams but I dont think Alltel has a program like that.

You have the full internet for free or can you just visit like tmobiles things to like download ringtones or games.

Anyway rollover minutes are kinda worthless when you could be getting much more extra minutes from tmobile for cheaper. Cingular is a better service though.

I was definitely going to think about it, then I saw the price and it knocked me back so umm..NO. However i'm going to check this out again come this fall when football season is starting up, maybe they'll have some specials on it and/or in general the price will be alot lower.

My dad wanted to get me the ESPN phone because it's on the Sprint Network (he works at Sprint) but instead I'm gonna get the A900 because it has more features and I get ESPN and stuff on Sprint TV, so it's basically the same thing with more features.

I might be getting it tonight, but for sure this week..it should be awesome.

Be careful with Sprint, I had them for a few years and they really try to take advantage of you in the charges every which way they can, and if you are unclear on how many minutes you have left don't bother asking the reps because they are never right and you will see that the hard way, when you get your bill..

I don't really have to worry about that, my dad is one of the main financing guys, like top 1 or 2 so I get free service and stuff.

That's the best kind of service to get!! Ironically I work for a cell phone provider and do not get any free service. I have a pay-as-you-go Virgin Mobilephone and just try not to use it very much. I pay about $20 a month, sometimes less sometimes more but i'd probably use my phone a lot more if I wasn't on a pay-as-you-go plan.
