    VHS to DVD Question

Has anybody used a product that converts VHS tapes to DVDs? How well did they work because I am looking to condense my collection of tapes.

At first I converted a few with my Nvidia video card that has a TV tuner. I think it's an FX 5900 - it has a break out box that has connectors for S-Video and RCA composite inputs. I had a few problems with it though - lately the audio sync has been screwed up.

It's strange but, my ATI RAGE 128 Pro card (about 6 years old or so) has a composite input and I've never had any problems capturing video using that.

To author DVDs I use Nerovision 3 express and to edit video I use Ulead Videostudio 8.

As to quality, the finished product looks just like the actual video on the tape. If the final authored DVD overflows the size of the single layer DVD I use either DVD shrink or Nero Recode to compress it. With a little compression, you can't tell a difference, but when the compression ratio gets close to 50% you can make out pixels.
