All Eyes on Jay-Z and Nas

    Anyone peep this yesterday?

It was really good, these two have alot of chemisty. Watching it made me extremely happy about the alliance. For those of you that didn't catch it, I hear it's going to be on again at 7 tonight (MTV). Sway had them break down the battle, which was ill. Just givin the OS hip-hop heads a heads up.

I just caught the end of it last night.

IDK man, at first it felt like this is the way things should be. But now...it doesn't feel right. I've always been a bigger Nas fan than Jay Z, so to see him take a backseat to Jay frustrates me.

From what I saw, I got the impression that Nas is thinking "yea it us together now" and Jay is thinking "yea we stopped fighting." Those are two completely different views on the exact same situation.

I want to like this, but for some reason I can't.

Re: All Eyes on Jay-Z and Nas

I'm a much bigger Nas fan then a Jay fan (peep the screen name), but Jay has always been my #2 even thoroughout the battle. This just makes sense to me. Jay even said it himself, "you can't sign an artist of Nas' stature, you can only partner with him".

I'm not lookin at this from a who won the war, or a who's gonna have who's back standpoint. I'm lookin at this as two grown *** men, the undisputed kings of hip-hop on the same page. Cam'ron and 50 wana talk about these guys being hugged up after dissing one another. The streets wanna diss nas for befriending a guy who f'd his baby moms and put it on wax. All that stuff is personal stuff that I (and apparently jay and nas) could care a less about. 50 and Cam and the rest of hip hops second tier can cry all they want, but these are two bosses makin moves.

I don't care abut any of the drama, the battle, or their "street cred", all I care about is 1. Nas getting some good production and dropping a classic LP 2. Nas getting paid (b/c the man is a genius and deserves it, he's getting good money for signing w/ def jam), and 3. Finally hearing that Nas/Jay collabo.

From a street cred standpoint this hurts nas, and makes jay look like the victor in the war (and maybe he is?) but Nas has never really had much cred to begin w/, hes always switchin his style, but I never really cared then and I dont now. All I care about is the music, and I think this alliance is gonna put forth some great music. Nas and Jay are gonna step their games up now that theyre on the same label. Trust.

So does this kill the idea of a Nas and Premo album? Guess I gotta settle for Just Blaze and Kanye on beats which is cool, but I aint for Nas over no Timberland and Neptunes. Not that their wack, it just does not fit Nas's style in my opinion.

it was pretty good. i was very happy when i heard they got together. my two favorite emcees ever , on the same label. like you sd , i cant wait for a collabo...... i dont see how jay is "punking nas" , how some ppl have put it .finally nas is going to have strong production -something hes been lacking his last couple of albums.
And with the third pick - I made the earth sick
M.J., hem Jay, fade away perfect

How does him being with jay-z have anything to do with him not working with premier?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

On mtv.com I read Jay saying that he would like to see him with producers such as Kanye,Just Blaze, Neptunes and Premier. I was looking forward to a joint Nas and Premo album. I guess it could happen eventually but it seems to good to be true.
