"0" I sold every DVD I had to pay for my 360. I never have time or patientence to sit and watch a DVD anyways.

Probably somewhere around 100 or so DVD's, not including how many are in the boxed sets. Anyways, favorites are:

      Smallville Seasons 1-4
      Friday the 13th Collection
      Nightmare on Elm Street Collection
      Wedding Crashers
      40 Year Old Virgin
Beavis And Butthead: The Mike Judge Collection Volume 1
      Lord of the Rings Series
      Waiting...
      Van Wilder
      Band Of Brothers
      Saving Private Ryan
      Fight Club
      Freddy vs. Jason
      Boondock Saints
      Night of the Living Dead
Dawn of the Dead (Old and New)
      Road Trip
      Old School
      Anchorman
      Batman Begins
      Boston Red Sox: Faith Rewarded
      Texas Chainsaw Massacre
      Assault On Precinct 13 (Old)
      Escape From New York
      Alien/Aliens
      Jurassic Park Boxed Set
      Amityville Horror Collection/Amityville Horror (2005)
      Scarface

Those are most of my favorites. I could probably go on, but i'll try to keep the list semi small.

Also, after looking at your list Candyman, I realized I REALLY need to pick up Evil Dead 1&2 and Army Of Darkness. Those are three of my favorite movies, yet for some reason I don't own them on DVD yet.

I don't buy DVDs, as I consider them to be a poor investment, but I rent a lot of movies, and the best one I've seen lately is Crash.

I do own three VHS movies.. Wayne's World, Backdraft, and Alice in Wonderland.

Re: How Many Movies are in your DVD collection and some of your Favs

My DVD collection (counting TV sets as one DVD apiece) currently stands at 237. My faves, in shelf order (kids to boxed sets):

                Beauty and the Beast
                The Incredibles
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit
                Monty Python's Life of Brian
                Chasing Amy
                The Producers
                Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
All of my Quentin Tarantino DVD's
                American Beauty
                Million Dollar Baby
                Heat
                The Usual Suspects
                Sin City: Recut, Extended, Unrated
                Batman Begins
                Moulin Rouge!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
                Fargo
                The Office: Season One
Arrested Development: Seasons One and Two
                The Godfather Collection
The Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions

                Can't Wait For:
                King Kong
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Little Mermaid (my wife and son are HUGE Disney nuts)

I have a list of test discs that I use to impress my wife's coworkers and friends, some of which are not listed here (like "The Fifth Element"). My wife and I are HUGE movie buffs, and it's a shame that I'm going to in all likelyhood rebuy the large majority whenever a winner emerges in the HD DVD/Blu Ray debate. Right now I love my 50" DLP and upconverting DVD. I prefer it in a lot of ways to dropping eight bucks for a movie ticket and being inundated with Coca-Cola ads (plus the extra bucks for a simple Diet Coke).

I have about 25 DVD's in my collection. I haven't bought a DVD for at least 6 months after I realized how much of a waste of money it was.

A tad under 40 for me. I've got about 20 that would qualify as my favorite movies. 10-15 are TV shows or impulse buys. The rest are music DVDs.

I spend much more money on music than movies, I've only bought about 5 DVDs over the past full year. Once I got a DVD player I collected my favorites and don't bother with too many new releases.

I currently have 350, as i always buy at a local store that has buy 2 get 2 free on their used dvds. It ends up being about 6 bucks a piece for them. The problem is i dont ever watch any of them, as i dont have the time to. I think its more about collecting than watching for me.

Good idea about the used DVD's. The problem I have is that the few used DVD's I've picked up have been damaged, so I've pretty much stopped the practice and just buy them new.

As for the person above who spent more on music, I did that when I was in high school, where after I got my first job my CD collection went from around 20 to over 300 within two years. Problem is that I haven't picked up a new CD since the latest Franz Ferdinand dropped some months ago. Walking through Sam Goody recently made me realize just how out-of-touch I am with the contemporary music scene (and how my fave bands have released several albums that I've never heard of). Curse of raising a toddler and being married I guess...

I went through a videogame buying phase when I got my first job. Now I've moved on to CDs a few years later. I just like the versitility of CDs over movies. You can listen to a CD almost anytime, a movie you usually have to sit down and dedicate 1:30-2 hours to in order to fully enjoy it. I can throw on a CD, do some homework or just mess around on OS for a while. I guess counter to you, I still have the time to find music I enjoy and still have enough time to listen to it to justify buying it so often. I can easily see the married life(especially with kids) getting to the point where you don't have the time to search for new stuff or listen to it.

And don't ever walk through Sam Goody with the intention of buying music, that is not a good idea.

Speaking of Sam Goody, my local store is going out of business. Everything is like 30% off, so instead of $20, they're the same as Circuit City and other places, lol.
