    Feline Obesity

I've seen some fat cats in my day, but damn.

The page you're trying to access could not be found or is no longer available.

    That is sad....

    It's the owner's fault.

Stop feeding the damn cat so much food!

I have a 5 year old domestic short hair and he weighs about 13 pounds. Anything over 14 pounds is considered over-weight for a cat.

    But damn 33 pounds?!?!

Aren't cats supposed to stop eating when they're full? Like, dogs will just sit there and eat and eat and eat. But cats are supposed to be different in that you can leave food out for them and they'll regulate their own food intake. Right? It's hard to believe this cat doesn't feel full until he eats six pounds of food per day....

I got a fat cat as well. Nowhere near 33 pounds though. I saw this on the news this morning while my obese cat looked on. She is 1 of 3 cats I have and she eats and eats and eats like there is no tommorow. Its as if any single activity, including being rubbed will make her hungry. She'll even wake me up in the middle of the night because her food dish is starting to get low. I haven't had her weighed, butI guess shes about close to 13 as well. Her stomach almost drags on the floor.

nope, we have two cats, one that I consider lil bit overweight (about 13-14lbs). Our other cat is female and she's skinny. She really doesn't eat much. Cats will eat as long as food is out. We have a feeder for our cats. We fill it up with hard food and they'll snack on it all day. We only put real food (starkist tuna, they love it) out maybe once per week. We let them eat good that one time, rest of the time it's purina one and water.

what kinda food do you buy? buy some of the good stuff, the healthy stuff. Right now, i buy Purina One. I used to get the cheap no frills stuff. I remember buying the 25lb of litter for $2.00 from walmart and the stuff sucked. Bought the good stuff, Tidy Cats, and can never go back to the cheap stuff even though TC is more expensive. Cheap stuff you'll be in the box cleaning everyday.

              That is a FAT cat.

Speaking of which, my neighbors back home have a cat named Watermelon... I think the name speaks for itself.

My cat is on her way to being a "fat cat". My cat eats everything, including dog food. She blew up after we got her 'fixed'.

We always get our cats the good, expensive stuff. My gf's brother had a cat not to long ago and he bought it the cheapest crap he could find. His cat would sit at our door and meow for hours till he got in and got a taste of the good stuff. We dont give them soft food(only occasionally), I heard it makes their breath stank. And our cats are always in our face. Same thing goes for the litter.

Same thing here. It happened to my cat right after she got fixed. She practically lives at the food dish and runs to it whenever she hears the tinkle of cat food pour into the ceramic dish.

Its funny though, my cats all have 3 sizes. One female is fat, the other female is medium sized and the male is skinny like a twig.

I have to feed my cat some real expensive crap because she has a degenerative kidney disease (she's about 15 years old, though you wouldn't know it by looking at her). She's always moderated her food intake and I limit her to about a half a can of wet food a day. She usually complains if her dish is empty but if you put something in it she sometimes won't even touch it for a little while, I think she just likes having something in there. She's not a fat cat either, I think she weighs 9 or 10 pounds. I don't know why anyone would feed their cat six pounds of chicken in one day. My cat would have to live with going hungry if she demanded that much.

Some people come over and wouldnt know we had a cat.

                        Why?
Cuz if buy your cat cheap food and cheap litter everyone will know by the smell.

i think that's why our female cat doesn't eat much and why she's so skinny is because she hasn't been fixed yet. I'm getting that done next month (been shopping around for the most affordable rate). I read that once females are spayed, their appetite increases due to increased or decreased in the amount of estrogen they produce.

btw this doesn't have anything to do with fat cats but my next door neighbor at school owns 38 cats... isn't that some kind of health violation? These cats are annoying they sit on my car at night and rough up the paint. Should I be allowed to punt them back over to their side of the fence?
