    iPod Help

I am trying to fix my friends iPod. Here is where we are...

    1. I copied the Music Folder from his iPod to the HDD. Inside that folder are folders FF00 - 40 or so.
    2. I restored his iPod
    3. I copied the Music Folder from the HDD back to the iPod.
    4. NOTHING shows up to play on his iPod or in iTunes, but it does show 3GB of 20G being taken up.

    Any advice?

Load the files you took off the iPod into iTunes. Format the iPod. Try and transfer the files back to the iPod using only iTunes.

dont mean to steal the thread, but I was wondering if anyone thats knows some stuff about Ipods can tell me why sometimes, usually after having it off for a while, I try to use it but it skips over all but a few songs.

I don't think you can do it like that.

I think he would have had to use some 3rd party program that will pull music off of Ipods...they're kinda copy protected or something to keep people from easily swapping music. I've never messed around with them, but not sure what he can do now. Maybe search around for programs that can deal with ipods (aside from Itunes)? I know there are some around

Well here is how everything went ....

                1. His iPod freezes.
1a. Upon plug in files are corrupted CHDSK does not work
                2. He RESET it and all songs are gone when viewing on the iPod or iTunes
                3. Plug iPod in computer.
                4. View Hidden Files or folders. G:- iPod_Control - Music - Folders FF00- FF49
***All his songs were still there***
                5. Copy Music Folder from iPod to HDD
                6. RESTORE iPod
                7. UPDATE iPod
                8. Right click Music Folder on your HDD. Take off Read-Only and Hidden
                9. Plug iPod back in. Rename, etc. on iTunes
                10. Drag Music Folder from HDD to iPod (IN iTUNES!!!!)
                11. Wait FOREVER b/c USB is only 1.0 , lol
                12. Listen to iPod again. Get a free pizza.
