I'm planning on seeing this movie tomorrow night, I'm a big fan of Willis. He hasn't reached the age that he can't play big action roles like I think Harrison Ford has a hard time with IMO. As for Mos Def, the only two things I have seen him in is the Italian Job and Hitchiker. I thought Hitchhiker was a crappy movie, so I won't judge him in that. Italian Job was such an ensemble, he could mix in well. It will be interesting how good he does with a larger role without as much support.

Anyway, I didn't know this movie was already out. I saw the trailer for it seeing Final Destination 3. That was fast. I guess I'll see it Friday.PS4: aBayBates

Re: 16 Blocks
I saw 16 Blocks last night. I really liked it. Bruce Willis does real well. Mos Def annoyed the living crap out of me for the first few minutes until I got used to his voice and character, then he ended up being really good. There are a few times in the movie when you are thinking, "How in the world are they gonna get out of this?" It's definitely a movie I will watch again when it comes out on DVD.

Mos Def was annoying as crap at first... definitely not the Mos I'm used to. Got used to it after a while though.
Bruce Willis does his silent, tough cop thing.
Not a bad film, entertaining at least. Definitely won't turn into anyone's favorite action flick... but it does its job of keeping you interested.
I'd suggest to see it if there's nothing good on or maybe a rental.Comment

Re: 16 Blocks
I had low expectations for this film, but I ended up really enjoying it. Mos Def's voice was annoying but he did a really good job with his character. Probably the best rapper/actor out there in the business right now.
The escape from the bus made me scratch my head.
In these types of movies, the tape recorder always come out at the end.
Overall, the ending from Bruce Willis's character was really fitting.Comment

Alt. ending spoiler alert!
It starts during the face off between Jack (Bruce Willis) and Frank (David Morse) in the alleyway behind the courtroom when Jack is making the tape recording. After their convo Frank realizes Jack is right and radios his man inside to stand down rather than go after Jack. The only problem is the man inside doesn't have his radio on him. When Jack goes to the prosecutor with the story Frank's man inside pulls a gun and shoots at Jack. Frank jumps in front of the bullet but evidently he doesn't get there in time and Jack is shot and killed. It looked as if Frank was hit as well, but not bad. The prosecutor pulls the recording out of Willis's pocket and plays it which implicates Frank and his men. They cover Jack's body then the scene cuts to the future where Jack's sister is receiving the cake from Eddie (Mos Def). She reads the letter he writes about second chances, thanks Jack, and the movie ends.

Re: 16 Blocks
I liked the alternative ending more than the theatre version. The DVD version is more "Non-Hollywood".Comment
