Internet Explorer 7 Beta now available...

I know most of us are fairly Firefox friendly around here, and I have it and liked it as well. But the slowdown was simply killing me, as was it's inability to be compatible with ALL webpages.

So...it brings me great pleasure to tell you that right now, you can download the beta version of Internet Explorer 7 with tabbed browsing.

    Just follow this link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/default.mspx

If it's already been posted, my bad. I searched for it and couldn't find it.

It's still IE. The security isn't much better than UNCW.

I'm in the same boat you're in.

Oh, and Z? You're one to talk about security and keeping your information private...

hey... i have yet to install windows xp Sp2 and i have heard various stories about it being good and bad.. this new IE needs Sp2.. should I advance and go with it. My cpu is never really vulnerable so it doesnt really apply to all of the sp2 features.

what's with the security problems you people are talking about? I've been using IE for ages and never once have I had a security problem.

You probably don't go to a lot of Porno sites then.

IE has been riddled with security problems for years. There are a lot of holes in it that can be taken advantage of by a hacker. All software has holes, but IE seems to take the cake. Just visiting some websites can cause these holes to be exploited (and not just porn sites).

ActiveX is one of the main culprits. Disabling it will stop a lot of problems.

I've been messing around with !E7 Beta for a few months now. I do like it better than past versions, but I don't think I'll move away from Firefox. With the IE View extension in Firefox, every webpage worked for me so compatibility has never been an issue.

MS claimes IE7 is more secure, but we've all heard that from them before.

Overall, I just like that you can tailor FF to your needs more than IE. FF allows the user to get "under the hood" and edit things whereas IE doesn't.

Exactly. I don't think I'm ever switching back to Internet Explorer.

I don't like FF one bit, I know a lot of you guys use it, but I used many times before and I don't like it at all, in time it always seems to run slow for no reason, I never have this problem with IE. Plus I woulnd't bank being so safe with FF, there are flaws in FF too.

Nothing's completely safe obviously. But as IE still has a 90% marketshare, it's going to continue being exploited much more than Firefox.
