Re: Entertainment Weekly's 25 WORST Movie Sequels

This list needs to have Mortal Kombat: Annihilation on it. Absolutely dreadful movie. I guess the prerequisite for making this list is the movie before the sequel has to have been good, though...

...and I disagree with the Matrix sequels making the list as well.

Oceans Twelve and Caddyshack II should not be on that list

Caddyshack II was dreadful IMO. I'm kinda shocked that they didn't put Canonball Run II on the list as the first one was pretty darn funny but the 2nd one was a poor rehash. The only good thing about Canonball Run II were the Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr. characters. Oh and Frank Sinatra playing the "chairman of the board".

Yeah, Ackroyd trying to be 'Carl'...ugh horrible. Then again mostly anything Ackroyd did was horrible.

I'm actually surprised only ONE Friday the 13th sequel made it on the list. Every one after Part 4 should have been on the list including Freddy vs. Jason.

Yes ma'am, I agree. I mean, sure... it got its hype in theaters and such... but people just try and compare it to the first one. The problem here is that the movie (well, the whole story) is really about Zion and the war. Like it or not, that's what it really was about. The first one was just a prelude to the final two. The action sequences were awesome, etc.

I also think Ocean's Twelve shouldn't have been on the list.

I do too, man, I'm a huge MK guy. I don't exactly regard it as cinematic excellence, though.

Does Alien vs. Predator qualify as a sequal? If so, it should be on the list.

Gremlins 2 might be just outside of the top 25 worst sequals.
I thought H20 was far, far better than either Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers or Halloween: Resurrection.

I'd consider putting Major League II in that top 25 worst list, too, if it weren't for some of the unintentional humor.

On second thought, horror movies( or at least the Friday the 13ths and Halloween's of the world) should be excluded from these kinds of lists. They are destined to be bad. All of them have major, MAJOR plot holes. For example:

Halloween H20: Jamie Lee Curtis has been hiding for 20 years. But she finds the time to have a child (Parts 4-6) who has also has a child, which means now she's a grandmother. Does she not know remember she has a child? Does she even care? She seemed more concerned about her son. Whatever happened to her granddaughter?? Am I thinking too much?? Yes.

Friday the 13th: too many plot holes to name...but if you can squeeze more movies starring a guy who was supposedly chopped into many pieces, yet be buried with his body tact and even be revived years later by lightning, get blown up into many pieces, turn into a parasite, fly off into space, land back on earth and get out of his grave (again) to WALK all the way to Elm Street (where is that anyway?) who am I to argue?

I agree with you that horror movies in general should probably be exluded, since the majority of those sequels suck.

The thing about H20 you have to realize is that it acts as if the events of Halloweens 4-6 never happened. That's what you get with different writers every time out, for the most part.
