    Computer help

OK guys.. im having a friend of my gf's Dad build me a computer (he's a real smart guy) and im trying to get down what hardware I want. I am looking to spend up to $3000 so top of the line everything is what im going for. Im very knowledgable when it comes to windows but hardware is another thing lol.

I'll be using the computer for heavy graphics programs and gaming and regular browsing.

What do you guys recommend for processor? Intel or AMD? I like the looks of the newest Intel chips but are the AMD chips just as good? Any differences between the two I need to know about?

    Graphics card.. what's the best?

Also what is the best LCD screen out there for under $1000? Im looking for 20" and up.

    Thanks guys

here's a good place to start. i don't know about spending a grand on a monitor, so you can downgrade that and upgrade other parts.
