Re: fans of underground rap?
I hope Mos goes back to his Black on Both Sides type of stuff and not the weird rock/singing style that he's picked up. When he's featured on songs he still kills everything but then he puts out weird *** albums.Torae & Marco Polo Collaboration Album "Double Barrel" In The Works

Re: fans of underground rap?
I think Kanye will give him some decent stuff and not that experimental tip that nobody seems to really fall in love with.
Question is, and always has been, why not get back with Talib and put out some new classic ish. Both in my eyes have not really released anything that epic latelyComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Honeslty I can't stand Talib(although Ear Drum was surprisingly good). I would just rather Mos come out with his own classic album then have to be bothered with Talib ruining a song.I think Kanye will give him some decent stuff and not that experimental tip that nobody seems to really fall in love with.

Re: fans of underground rap?
lol. Honestly, it's not something he's "picked up". Much like Wyclef, Mos Def has always been a bit all over the place. It's just his "all over the place" is generally right in line with what hard core hip hop fans want to hear. With that said, I can't remember the details of his last album but I remember that he didn't really care too much about making money and I believe he didn't even want to make it. I'm just happy he's still making music at all. I liked his last album. It was definitely different to say the least (and for the first time ever, there were some Mos Def tracks I actually skipped) but its got some nice tracks. I think if he's putting together something to be promoted and the whole 9 (which is what I'd read when I see he's talking to Kanye) then I don't think you've got anything to worry about.
BTW, I think I said this but I agree with you about Talib but I also think he shines when he's with Mos Def. I'd definitely welcome another Black Star album.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Well if you guys go check out Atmosphere's myspace page you will see a couple cool things. First you'll see they put up a webisode called "Paint it Gold". Basically what they want to do is answer a bunch of questions from the fans. Next thing is that they posted their 15-city tour.
You can send them questions at [email protected]
The cool thing is that Slug actually responds. I noticed the closest place to me was Washington DC and I am going to see Atmosphere before I die haha.
Anyways I asked him if I need to go up there and he said no, he'll be visiting Chapel Hill in the fall. Thought it was cool to get a response.
Now I get to go visit my favorite school and see my favorite artist. I have to say that made my day.Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Talib's album reached #2 on Billboard so he was pretty ground-breaking as of late... as in he broke thru the underground surface... but he was always on the verge.I think Kanye will give him some decent stuff and not that experimental tip that nobody seems to really fall in love with.

I would love something black star for sure tho.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
What'd you think about Eardrum X? I bumped like four or five tracks.. but I wasn't feelin it man. I have a feeling he reached #2 because he's with WB now.
And JMood.. are you serious?! I've been bumping "Beautiful" with Mary J. longinggggg for another Black Star. They go together like salt and pepper.Comment

and the album was an A- for me... http://www.operationsports.com/forum...&postcount=970
Although by years end... I would say it was just a B. Besides "Everything Man" I didn't think many of the tracks gave the album lasting value...
really funny... while I was typing this with my shuffle on in my itunes, "Eat to Live" came on.
I think the Talib/Madlib connection is stellar... more of those would be appreciated.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment
