I have the new Brother Ali... still, one thing I wanna bring up here... and I'm not hating... everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

but why is there so much love for Blu, or in this case, Brother Ali... and overall, for guys like Slug. I guess I'm just not seeing the greatness here. Blu's latest mixtape "Her Favo(u)rite Colo(u)r" was one of the worst mixes I've heard in a very long time. I didn't like a single track, and the whole vibe was relaxing yes, but sleep inducing. In response to Cane_Mutiny... I hope Blu does something better and beyond than what he has done so far. He's the biggest hit or miss artist to date imo. I guess the reason I grouped those three artists together, is they approach the rap game similarly.

Still... no hate... I actually attribute these feelings to my New York origins... so everyone is def different, and that doesn't mind me... someone give me a new Sean Price album tho!!!

I had no idea this came out today. For some reason I thought it was due out towards the end of March. Has anyone heard it yet?

It's been leaked for awhile but I thought it was old so I never downloaded it.

I hate Sean Price.

I love Blu but for whatever reason his mixtapes where he does the production aren't anywhere close to how good he is when he's with a really good producer. His songs with Shingo Suzuki, Presto, Noah, and of course Exile are all great but when he's doing everything by himself or with that ****ty dude that is with him in Crac he sounds pretty bad.

Yeah, I'll admit that Blu is very hit and miss. But when he's at his best - like on Below the Heavens - he's incredible. With real production, he can be a beast.

Slug is just different, that's why I like him. I connect with his music, and cultural barriers have something to do with that. As much as I love Little Brother I can only listen to so many songs with the n-word.

Nobody uses metaphors and words like Slug, and it hits home with me.

Yeah, maybe noone does it like Slug, but I've heard people who do it better.

Elzhi's wordplay comes to mind. Median has just recently stepped his entire game up to a whole new level. In fact, anyone not too familiar with Median, should seriously put him on play. Anything from 2007 and beyond, but preferably late '08 or check his rhymes in '09.

Its all subjective. I think Murs and Slug are the most candid which speaks volumes for their creditibility.

Like everyone else has said, Slug just speaks to me. I can't count how many "WTF" and "SMH" moments I've had while listening to his music. People are quick to call him (and Brother Ali) emo-rap, but you know what...that's what that **** is. It's emotional music, slug is your everyday MC. He doesn't rhyme about selling drugs or running from the cops...he rhymes about everyday **** that the modern man (no pun intended) can relate to; women issues, family issues, friendships, hardships, and surviving in this ever changing world.

It's not all negative though, and I think that's where the label of "emo" is bull****. He's probably one of the most glass half-full MC's in the game.(At least after the Lucy Ford EP) One of my favourite atmosphere songs is "Say Shhh" which is a homage to his hometown. I love that song b/c it reminds me that I'm grateful for living in Toronto....plus, if I really did have leave I WOULD actually dip to Chicago.

X-Cell mentioned Median... I think he is average at best. I can't get into his music at all. Some artists stick with you, some don't.

Like Cane said, Blu is hit and miss. Only thing I have really liked from him is Below The Heavens and half of that was only good to me.

I have it. There's only one song I love thus far, "Palm the Joker." Overall, it's decent, but I so very much love Ali that maybe I expected something epic.

"The believers" has this little hook in it I love. Other then that its was a bit of a letdown.

How come there are no 4 song seasonal ep's from atmosphere this year?

I like Median but half the time I dont think he even knows what the hell is talking about. I haven't heard the new Ali but I wasn't too fond of the Rope-A-Dope mix.

Man, that is what I used to think, until you listen closer, or deeper... every single line he spits is metaphorical wordplay that fits within the given rhymescheme. Median before 2008? not so much... but now, there is a reason why so many artists are featuring him on their track. What popularity would you gain by putting Median on your tracks? That's the point. You don't gain. Dude's skills are just top notch these days. He's a rapper's favorite rapper.
