Recently purchased a sharp lcd HDTV monitor...and have hooked up my ps2 with component cables...but although the colors are a lot better, when there is a lot of motion (NCAA football), there seems to be a lot of jaggies (almost worse than my old tv)?
Any suggestions? are lcd's not good for ps2's?Tags: None -

What you are probably noticing is that on a larger picture or on an HDTV, any defects in the source become amplified. The PS2 being low resolution will stick out more than Xbox or the 360, which offer full progressive or HD signals. The same problem will probably be seen on SD programming versus HD (the introduction and amplification of digital "noise"). DVD's may show the same problem.
Hopefully this makes some sense, but no knowing if it's a straight flat panel or rear projection, TV versus computer monitor, makes diagnosing an issue difficult.I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams

but now I'm wondering because it's a enhanced tv, that's hdtv capable.
Since I play mostly sports games, I'm wondering if it's worth getting an hdtv now....will it really help that much?Comment

Sports games should not be a problem, but I agree that with PS3 or 360 the picture will look a lot better. On the current gen systems an HDTV will in all likelihood make the picture look worse (though I can't really complain about the PS2 picture on my SXRD).
I would wait though, and suggest that you be sure that any future HDTV you might purchase have at least one HDMI or DVI (preferably HDMI) input and a couple full band HD component inputs.
