Is the ColdHeat soldering iron worth having?

I need to learn to solder. So as I was thinking of picking up the tools, I see a lot of this newfangled gadget. Is it a waste of money, or is it a step up from the traditional tools?

    Thanks!

Being an EET major, i'd recommend learning to use a normal soldering iron first. It really isn't that difficult with practice. One of my friends picked up the coldheat iron, and while it is efficient (all you do is turn it on and you're ready to go, no need to heat it up first), it is difficult to solder in small areas. I'm sure there may be extra tips to pick up, but i'd still start out with a normal soldering iron, then maybe try out the coldheat after to see how you like it. Just my 2 cents.
