Re: Don Cheadle to play Miles Davis in biopic?
Don Cheadle is definitely one of, if not my favourite actor these days. He's a bit underrated but he's done some great work. I don't know if I can see him playing Miles Davis but i'm sure he'd do a good job.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Agreed on Cheadle. I really liked him in everything else, but then I saw him in Hotel Rwanda and was blown away. He's just rock solid in every role. Judging from IMDB it seems like he's got some so-so projects in the pipeline, but Tishomingo Blues could be really good. I like all the other Leonard adaptations and Cheadle's definitely got the right kind of feel for his kinds of movies.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

I like Taye Diggs, but IMO, he can't see Don Cheadle in terms of acting ability... His best roles have all seemed to be similar characters.. The Best Man, The Wood, Brown Sugar......Comment

Originally posted by pk500Cheadle is a great pick for this role. Miles was such a complex cat that only a really, really strong actor could play the part.
Cheadle fits that role; Taye Diggs does not.

Don't want to take away from the topic but something that has always puzzled me.
In Billy Madison the old woman on the field trip says, "If peeing your pants is cool, just call me Miles Davis!"
What the hell does that mean?Comment

Originally posted by DiademYes, but Cheadle looks nothing like him. Anyway whomever they choose has to get his voice down perfectly. They should also get Denzel Washington to play John Coltrane, but the price might be too high.
Cheadle
Miles
Joaquin Phoenix wasn't a spitting image of Johnny Cash, and he seemed to pull off the role just fine in "Walk the Line."

It means Miles was cool. His album, "Birth of the Cool," basically invented cool jazz. Miles was just about the coolest cat in jazz back then. So since the old lady has some bladder problems and thinks that's cool, she figures she's about as cool as Miles Davis. Get it?
And now, on with the show....Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
