Re: V for Vendetta
Well ****. Circuit City is selling the Single Disc editions for $14 a pop, but the Special Edition is going to sell for $30. Screw that. Amazon is taking pre-sales for $20.

My thoughts on the movie: One of the greatest ****ing movies I have ever seen, hands down.

Re: V for Vendetta
Originally posted by MisfitI still haven't seen this movie. I've been reluctant to since the writer of the graphic novel condemned the movie and wants nothing to do with it, saying they completely changed the source material's message.

Originally posted by Longhorn6Didn't actually look...but it was a bigger box-set thing.
Maybe the novel or some movie booklet or something?
According to bestbuy.com, they're sold out (only availabe at the stores), but the set looks like it includes the V mask, WS 2 disc SE, and postcard sized movie posters.
Now I wish I had a Best Buy around here.

Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsI haven't read the TPB yet so I can't comment if the message was really changed or not, but the message is powerful and the movie is great.
Supposedly its things like changing V's dialogue from clever quotes from Shakespeare to lines overusing the letter "V." And there are some added slapstick gags apparently (V pantses somebody, or something) and Nathalie Portman's character is rather strong and defiant rather than being a weak and broken down individual willing to follow anyone because she does not know how to make her own decisions (as a result of being under a fascist goverment). And that the fascism vs anarchy thing doesn't really apply to the setting they create in this new one. Like I said, I haven't seen the film though and it was a long time ago that I read the comics.Comment

-He pulls down someone's pants, yes, but it makes sense in the conext of what's going on.
-Portman's character is certainly not weak or anything, but she is "scared" and fragile for the first part.Comment

Re: V for Vendetta
There have been other movies based on books which have made a lot more changes than the ones Moore is concerned with.
