What is the easiest way to fix a PS2

ok so heres the deal. whenever i power up my ps2 it goes to the browser/system screen when i eject the tray and reput it back in, the screen say reading disc... twice then those words come off the screen, is there anything i can do to fix this? because i cant shell out another 100 bucks for a ps2

I fall hope is lost and your warrenty is up, you can always try opening it up and cleaning everything you can. Mainly the lens. A last resort, only do it if you are ready to throw it in the trash can.

Otherwise you can always send it in to Sony and they will fix it for a price, shouldn't be as expensive as a new system, but probably still a little steep.

My nephew's PS2 was doing the same thing. I found a how-to online about cleaning the lens and did it myself. Worked just like new after that.

LOL actually i was smashing it all over the room, guys thank you thank you thank you for all ure responces, i fixed it by opening up the sysytem and cleaning the lens and all other ports that were CLOGGED with dust... seems to be working fine now, but i am gonna order another refurbed ps2 next week as a just in case.. thanks again guys

Heh, I'm actually an XBOX guy and just wanted to sabotage your PS2 in hopes you would buy an XBOX instead.
