    Gmail Help

My wife wanted me to ask this on a message board, as anyone been having trouble accessing Gmail from work? I can get on fine at home, but at work she cannot get on and gets an error message. Anyone have any ideas as to what's up?

My first thought was there Sonic Wall is blocking access to Gmail in some way, but she seems insistent that isn't it.

Does she get the ActiveX error, or does the connection just time out? Can she log into email sites like hotmail and yahoo mail, if not, maybe the company's proxy is blocking it?

I saw the ActiveX error one time on a computer I was using once. This is Gmail's FAQ about that error:

How do I get rid of an ActiveX error?
ActiveX errors are caused by certain browser settings and misconfigured system files. To fix the problem, please adjust the settings in Internet Explorer by following the steps below:

    1. Click the 'Tools' menu at the top of your browser, and select 'Internet Options.'
    2. Click the 'Security' tab at the top of the dialogue box, and set 'Medium' as the 'Security level for this zone.'
    3. Click 'Custom Level' button and ensure that the following are set to 'Enabled':
    * Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
    * Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
    * Scripting
    4. Click 'OK' after these settings are enabled.
    5. Click 'OK' again to save your changes.
    6. Log in to Gmail again.

If your browser was already set correctly, it's likely that you have a misconfigured system file. Here's how to reset the system file to the default settings:

    1. Click the 'Start' button in Windows.
    2. Select 'Run.'
    3. Enter 'regsvr32 msxml3.dll' in the 'Open:' field, and click 'OK.'

After a moment, a dialogue box notifies you that the file was properly reset. Click 'OK' in the dialogue box to exit.

After making this change, please close all instances of Internet Explorer and open a new browser window to log back in to Gmail.

She wasn't too clear as to what error. All she said is it kept saying Gmail Server Error, Please Try Again in a few seconds. This has been happening since Thursday.

      Is this the ActiveX error?

from what I remember, it tells you straight out that you have an ActiveX error. It sounds like her work blocks that site, but that would make since if she can get to sites like hotmail.

She can get into AOL's email and people there can use Yahoo's mail service.

Has she tried accessing Gmail on someone else's computer to see if it is just her's?

I'll ask her when she comes home for lunch.

Actually, she's been at 2 computers since Thursday and has had problems at both I believe.
