Arthur Case wasn't evil. It's not like he would ever hurt anyone. He just has no morals.

I would say this is a good movie with Clive Owen delivering a great character and performance. I enjoyed it, but, at the same time, I was disappointed. Somehow, I expected more from Spike Lee.

Wow what a great movie. IMO the best movie of 06 so far.

Denzel Washington and Clive Owen didn't disappoint me. Both are great actors.

I loved how the movie opened. It looked like Owen was in a cell so you thought he eventually got busted and now he's telling his side of the story behind bars.

I liked how the interviews with the witnesses had the grainy effect.

Nice ending of how Owen slipped Denzel the diamond. Denzel had mentioned earlier he couldn't afford to get married.

Jodie Foster must have really loved the script and wanted to work with certain people on the film, because it's rare you see her in a movie and she's not the main or 2nd most important character.

The product placement was really evident in this film. You had the Pepsi vending machine, GMC SUV, PSP, Dell computer boxes/computer, Apple computer, and Ipod.

It's a Spike Lee film, so you had to expect some social commentary. He had the racist cop, the Sikh being mistreated (nice Cab joke), violent video games, and a certain form of rap music. The video game was a obvious jab at GTA and he made the little kid single out 50-cent (who Spike Lee doesn't like).

I agree with the other observations.

-Great way to start the movie, the last 30-45 minutes I was trying to figure out how he was going to get caught, but the others involved weren't(they were in the interviews). I figured he was in a foreign prison because it was so small and not the typical prison most would imagine.

-I heard Jodie Foster's character was a man in the original screenplay, but she liked the role so much she went in and read it, and obviously got the part

-The product placement was really, really obvious. I'm not sure that is a bad thing though. It brings a sense of realism to it all really. Offices have Pepsi machines in them, and Dell makes computer monitors, people drive GMCs, everybody and their mother have iPods, ect. If you were filming a real bank and real cop cars/computer equipment, you would see all of those brand names everywhere, so I don't mind them being in the movie

-Two things I found a little unbelievable: 1) That Clive Owen's character decided to leave the bank the exact moment Washington's entered the bank, that was just a little much. 2) Nobody noticed that the wall in the stock room had moved about 5 feet. The cops obviously wouldn't notice, but the employees should have once they came back to work

-The whole idea behind the robbery was great, really intelligent. Putting everybody in different rooms in small groups and constantly rotating them was brilliant. Took me a little bit to catch on to it all, but really well thought out. And it was obvious when Washington was describing the interviews to his boss, every suspect they had was ruled out by someone else

-Loved the social commentary. The videogame was great. As Asianflow said, you have to expect that from a Spike Lee film. And though the movie wasn't about any big social issue, he managed to fit it in there.

-More laughs than I expected

-I like the slight open-endedness about how we don't know if Jodie Foster and/or the Mayor actually called the war crimes agency about Case.

-Never expected the Jewish guy to be in on it.

Thats about all I can think of right now. Really good movie, not a typical bank robbery flick at all. Probably give it 9 out of 10.

Not a complaint about the movie...Just an observation...

I don't understand why they went through all the trouble to make him a toilet. Why couldn't he just take a bucket with a really good lid that could cover up the smell? The bucket wouldn't even need to be that big...You don't have to crap that much in a week. A rotating crew making a hole through concrete seemed like it would be more trouble than its worth.

That is a good point, but it also makes you wonder what the heck the hole is for and draws attention away from the big plan of making him the cell. The whole time I was wondering what the heck that hole was for, believing they would leave the money/letter/jewelry in it. Even when somebody said "that will make a nice crap hole", I thought it was pretty funny when it turned out to be a literal statement.

I didn't look at Clive's character as a "good" guy in any way. He was a theif.

I didn't not like his character, but I certainly didn't like him either. He just struck me as a smart *** theif.

Anyway - pretty good movie. I wouldn't say great or anything. I'd give it 3 1/2 to 4 out of 5

He was a crook with a heart of gold though. Certainly not a good guy, but at the end of the day he just exposed an old man of war crimes and got insanely rich in the process. But the idea that he didn't take anyone else's money and he didn't kill anybody maybes him likeable.

When I first saw the hole being dug, I thought 3 things:

1) They're digging a tunnel to get out (which would have taken a long time)
2) It's to stash something in there
3) It's a hole for washroom purposes

Denzel even said Clive didn't really want the plane and was just stalling for time.

I agree the "chance meeting" between Clive and Denzel near the end was really pushing it, but it's a movie.

I hope Spike Lee does commentary on the DVD.

The movie grossed around 29 mil this weekend.

I wouldn't be surprised if I see copycat bank robbers in the future. The way the robbers made everybody else wear the same costume is brilliant. And of course the way they switched people in different rooms.

You're smarter than I am. I had no clue it would actually be used as a "crap hole." My thought was storing something, and then I thought they were going to dig it big enough to store a person. After that I had no more guesses.

I was thinking the same thing about copy cat bank robberies in real life, it really was almost PERFECT. The whole living in the storage room might be bit much, but send in 5 robbers and have only 1 get caught.....

I don't know people - it's a movie.

While it looked great on screen, I really doubt it would work like that in real life. It would probably do nothing, and the criminals would go down looking like some of the dumbest robbers in history. Just doesn't seem plausable for a second.

Like they say - only in the movies.

pretty sure he will for this one... it's Spike and Denzel's best opening weekend box office wise ever.
