The box set is the way to go. Being Greek myself, it's funny seing how similar organized crime is in both cultures.

#3 shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the first two.

Part III was a disgrace to the series.

            Re: The Godfather Trilogy

Its funny this topic came up, cause I was watching the movies this weekend for the first time in a while and I think I might pick up the game.

Anyway, Godfather I and II are timeless classics. Characters are very well developed. The casting for the movie was perfect too. Marlon Brando, Pacino, and De Niro were all incrediable in the series. The music is fantastic, really sets the mood. I actually downloaded the soundtrack by to the trilogy and listen to it often.

I have the box set, but I've never seen Godfather III cause I heard it was so bad. I might give it a try today though.

The Godfather Part II is the greatest movie of all time, in my opinion. The Godfather is right at number 2. Both amazing movies, and I've been wanted to watch them again for a while and just haven't had the time. The third one is OK, but when looking at it compared to the first two it looks bad, as others have said.

While I really like Part 2 I think it's a notch below Part 1. Brando and Caan made Part 1 memorable and it was more gripping. While I liked the Deniro backstory in Part 2 I thought the Hyman Roth character was annoying not to mention Diane Keaton and the story around that weak and the Fredo thing made it too much like a soap opera rather than an epic crime story like the 1st one was.
