Here my friends, is an example of what I was saying. This is how he ended his 9/11/01 show...

"Cause that's what we're about ladies and gentlemen. We found out, life ain't what ya want it to be. Somebody in this room might die on the way home; I hope to god its doesn't happen, but now you know that's the reality. I hope you learned to read some sh*t, and the bell... It tolls for thee, and you're not supposed to go gently into that goodnight. For that goodnight might be that night or the next day in the morning you had a fight. And some sh*t happened and you wish you could take that day back. So don't be doin' that, but we all want it to end correctly. That's what we're all about. We want it to end in a crescendo, we want life to be perfect, we wanna die like in the movies and go, "I loved you more than life itself!*dies*" Like I'll give you an example: Every comedy show that you've ever been to, every comedy show you have ever seen, every comedian that has ever stepped on a stage that you've ever witnessed... ends in a cresccendo. We tell a big joke at the end, and it gives you the opportunity to laugh and gives me the opportunity to walk off-stage and everybody's happy because that's how it ends. I hope you learned your lesson, that when the time is there, you take advantage of that ah*t. When the jokes are there, you laugh. Don't expect a big one at the end, it might not come. And if you're waiting for it, you got f*cked and taught a lesson tonight."

Wetback ? Pretty harsh word I would say.....No different than the "N" word. Seems like there is a double standard when it comes to race topics here. Wonder how long this thread would of stayed open if it was N*****Mountain. (steps off soap box).

Well, if it were someone like Chappelle, I would imagine it wouldn't be closed at all. And considering there is a hispanic comedian behind this, I don't see why it should be any different than if it were some sort of black humor from a black comedian.

To everyone who thinks he can't do social commentary jokes.... You are insane. I have 6 live performances from him, and his 1-2 hour standup routines feature a LOT of social commentary. ****, he had the unlucky task of trying to make people laugh on 9/11/01... He didn't do his normal comedy that day, he did a LOT of social commentary, and he pulled it off quite flawlessly. He does the racial jokes so often on tv shows because quite frankly, that is what most people in America find to be the funniest.

Can he "do" them? Sure, anyone could, technically. My point is that he cannot do them WELL. That last line is case in point.

So because he can do racial and off-color jokes well he can't do social commentary? You have obviously never heard/seen him in a long format instead of HBO or Comedy Central so there is no need for this conversation to go any further, because if you had you would know how ridiculous you look. The guy sticks to his money-makers in short form... When he has the stage to himself for an hour or two, he does a crapton of social commentary.

I dont really dig the guy, his show isnt all that funny and he is quite anoying...but I dont see the huge deal about Dane Cook either.

i dont like his show at all but i do enjoy his stand-up acts but yeah - i dont see the big deal about dane cook either .

Carlos Mencia wants your to think he's the... Hispanic Dave Chappelle. Just a few weeks ago, the last time I ever watched that show, he had a midget doing Lil' John impersonations. The rest of the show was hispanic and ****** jokes.

Give me a break.

I can't stand Mencia's show... but I heard his stand-up was funny.
