Arrested Development... gone for good, probably

Mitchell Hurwitz said he won't continue as showrunner, but he's willing to be a consultant for the show. Showtime would have likely picked the show up if Hurwitz was still on board.

    Oh well.

I'm actually quite happy about this, and I'm a HUGE fan. It's better to burn out than to fade away, and all great shows eventually become tired and derivative, and I didn't want to see that happen with AD.

I'm satisfied that AD was a bright shining star for 3 seasons, and now it gets to exit on a high note and a degree of closure(I think the last episodes wrapped it all up nicely).
I drive a 2005 Toyota Prius Gas/Electric Hybrid. My last tank was 53.6 miles/gallon. Gas prices fear me!

Yeah, I'm ambivalent about this news. I think the last 4 eps did a great job of wrapping up the show, so it's not that big a deal it's not renewed. Still, I would have liked to see more eps of AD. Quality writing is so rare on TV, so anymore eps of AD would be a good thing, IMHO.

I'm definitely going to miss the show, it ranks as the best sitcom I've ever seen. I was looking forward to it having a new beginning on Showtime, espeically since I would then have been able to see it in HD (Until recently, I couldn't get locals in HD, so I was too late to see the show in HD).
