CRT's are best for gaming. But that's my opinion.

I think CRT's have the best picture. LCD's don't suffer from burn in though. Do the newest CRT's still suffer from burn-in?

Me and my bro happen to think the plasma i have looks better than his LCD. My CRT isnt so bad either. I say, if you have an HDTV to game on, you're in a win win situation no matter what kind it is.

The thing you have to look at for gaming on LCD's in the response time. It should be lower than 8ms to use for gaming otherwise you will get ghosting.

Maybe if this was the year 2003. On 19" LCD's and below, gaming problems have been addressed. I have a 17" LCD from NEC, and it rules my ***.

When you are considering purchasing an LCD to use for gaming:

                - understand you are locked in at the native resolution to play games. IOW, if your card supports 1600x1200 resolution, and you get a panel that tops out at 1280x1024, you will not be able to hit 1600x1200. This was the case for me, but I'm still satisfied.

                - check reviews for the panel, especially Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) for reviews on LCD's. Read user reviews and other info.

As of today, 2006, there is no reason not to get an LCD for gaming (i.e. - ghosting) reasons on monitors of 19" and below.
