PayPal and eBay question

So I don't usually sell things on ebay so I'm a bit uneducated on this issue. When someone buys something from me via paypal, i give them my paypal email address to request payment? Also, once I see that the amount is in my account, is there a way that the buyer can take his money back after I ship the item? and also, how long does it usually take from the time the buyer sends me payment to the point where it's confirmed in my account?

I believe they can deny the paypal charge and you be out of luck. If they are in the US, I don't believe it matters.

I specifically made sure that I ship within the US (it's in NC). I had some idiot from England that wanted me to ship it to his "friend" in Nigeria.... had that happen twice. Ugh. But this buyer lives in a confirmed PayPal address in the US (although his/her rating is only 3), I think it's reputable enough.

Follow the seller protection policy to a tee. or else you can be screwed

that entails:
-confirmed address on their end
-online trackable delivery confirmation
-signature confirmation for items over 250.

In your ebay and paypal options, you can set all that to where you wont get bids from India asking to use paypal.


Btw, with all that said and done, the buyer can still use a credit card chargeback, in which case paypal doesnt look into anything and youre screwed. literally.

you can have the feedback stating they got it, the emails, even the delivery confirmation number, but once they pull the credit card chargeback, theres nothing you can do.

But following that policy for the seller, you can fight against items not received , although its more like a 50-50 toss up more times than not. (most bad buyers know they just claim significantly not as described and send a rock back in the orginial packaging, so the weight matches)

I'd stick away from paypal if youre not too worried about losing out once in a blue moon. Plus, depending on what you sell, paypal can restrict your accout and request 10-20 faxable papers asking for ID, inventory, etc...

paypal definetly has alot of loopholes and if you sell the type of fraud driven stuff people, want, just be extra careful
