    Football helmet visors

I need your help OSers. I've been playing football all my life and have always played with a clear visor, but my visor finally had too many scratches to be used again and im shopping for a new one. I've been looking at the oakley line specifically.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with any of these visors, and if anyone knows what colors are good for what condition. Our helmets are yellow, so I'm thinking of getting a yellow one, but i dont know how well that will block out the sun for me, because thats important as my eyes are quite sensitive to sun light.

Any reccomendations on colors ? Or anything ?

    Help would be appreciated thanks.

    Oakley Lens Transmission Chart

I dont know if you want to go and get two for each spectrum or get one thats in the middle.

I would actually look at the NCAA and pros and see what color they have.. if its good enough for them, go with that.

Ive never seen any pros with yellow visors.. its usually just a grey, right?

yeah normally its either gray or clear in the pros. You never really see any colored ones. And with this chart grey is pretty close to the middle and yellow seems to not work that well for sunlight. i wonder if anyone here has had any personal experiences with them ?

If you are playing highschool football then just get another clear on because most high school athletic associations don't allow players to wear tinted visors of any kind unless it's perscribed.

Depends on the level. Most HS regions like the NFL don't allow tinted visors without some sort of prescription. Reason being, it's difficult to see the pupils of players eye's when attempting to diagnose concussions and such, if memory serves..

I messed around with a visor for a while when I was playing college, but it made everything in my helmet seem like it echoed so I ditched it. I really didn't need one anyway, I just thought they looked cool.

The University of Miami (FL) wears those types of visors. Very cool.

Well a prescription is needed for a tinted visor, but i can get that because i have a condition with my eyes being ultra sensitive to direct sunlight. I have to wear sunglasses whenver the suns out, winter or summer.

If you are looking to get the darkest tinted visor (20% grey) get it directly from Oakley. Do not get it off of ebay they are way overpriced, people are claiming that Oakley doesn't make them for the public anymore that is not true I called them up directly and they told me they still have them in fact he told me they are darker than the 20% grey. Sadly they don't make the mirrored visors shown above those are only for college and the pro's. Also all colors of the visors are $40.

                    That's a nice visor.

As for a visor if I had to choose I would get clear one.
