Cheap CDs?
Anyone know of good places to get new, but cheap CDs? I see this website yourmusic.com that says if you subscribe you get unlimited CDs at 5.99 each with free shipping and handling. You pay 5.99 a month and get one CD. After that you can buy as many more as you want for the same price. Seems like a good deal...

Re: Cheap CDs?
yourmusic is a good deal, they ship fast and it have a good collection of older music. They are owned by BMG which runs a service of their own which basically ends up giving you 12 CDs for $50-$60 which is slightly cheaper per CD than yourmusic is. The "catch" is you have to get 7 of those CDs at the same time to start your membership. You end up getting 11 "free" CDs where you only pay shipping. You get 7 to start, then you have to buy one outrageously "normal" priced CD which is $20 after shipping, then you get 4 more free that you have to pay for shipping.
So if you can find 7 CDs on their site(it is BMGmusicservice.com I think) then go with BMG, if you just want one or two a month over a longer period, do yourmusic.
Pawn shops are a great place to buy used CDs. They don't really check quality, but they also leave all of the CDs in the cases in a bin somewhere in the store, so you can check if a CD is scratched or not. Most places have 4/5 for $10. Some are horriblely scratched up, but you can find good ones. Also, try a local shop's used section, most of those run around $8 and they have really strict policies about only taking very clean, unscratched CDs. Don't go to a used CD store, go to a normal store that has a used section.Comment

Re: Cheap CDs?
Amazon is good. Depending on the CD, you can find a brand new CD between $5-$8, but thats through the shops, so then you have to factor in S&H.
There is also a site, www.gemm.com, which is set up like Amazon, except it focuses only on music. The music I buy online is either from Amazon, yourmusic.com, or gemm.com.

Also, is the music selection the exact same at both places since theyre ran by the same place? Cause if so i wont have to sift through all of yourmusic's cds. (edit: nevermind that last question. it appears that the selection is the same. They have the same AZ and Cormega CD's, which is pretty obscure)Last edited by Streets; 04-16-2006, 03:19 PM.Comment

After your 12, like Fresh said, you will start getting offers every so often. When they realize you aren't going to order again(a couple of months after you finish with your 12) they will send you things like buy one get 3 free, but even that is more expensive than yourmusic($18 + $8 S&H compared to yourmusic's flat $24). So what you do is, go through your 12 CDs fast, it will take about a month if you do it as quickly as you can. Then you cancel your subscription, and you can sign up again the next year. Use yourmusic in the meantime. Their site says they allow one account per household per year(BMG that is). So get your 12 pretty cheap, cancel it, and sign up again next year. There is no way to keep getting those 12 multiple times a year unless you have an alternate credit card and address you can get everything shipped to.
I did BMG, cancelled and then started yourmusic. I am considering starting BMG again soon since the number of albums I want is growing.Comment

Originally posted by CM1847Yeah, they're owned by the same company so the selection is pretty much identical. The exception is that BMG offers some Beatles and White Stripes albums at "normal" price($18) but you can't used them as a free album or even as the one you have to buy, strange.
