    NFL Draft overkill

I posted this in the E & T forum because it's more to do with the coverage than the Draft itself...

Does anyone else think maybe it's a bit excessive? ESPN's got wall-to-wall draft coverage it seems like. I watch the draft, but I think I'm going to be exhausted from all this come this weekend... I think every night this week they've had multi-hour specials all about the draft.

I wish they covered the World Series this thoroughly.

I know how you feel but it's the NHL playoffs that gets covered to death over here. At least it has to do with actual competition and not sitting around hearing talking heads going on about how great "so and so" is etc etc.

I really only care about the top 5 or so picks and who the Dolphins select.

They lost a lot of advertising money to be able to show their draft ticker during commercials. NFL Network is also going all out on their coverage, they'be hired quite a few former players/coaches to be a part of their broadcast. It was overkill 5 years ago, now overkill plus competition and it is just out of hand.

I think they broadcast it way too much and they dont have enough on playoff basketball.

The draft coverage isnt what bothers me. Its how they seem to only focus on the Top 5 players in the draft. All they do is talk about Leinart, Bush, and Young. I dont care about them anymore. Talk about the guys that are going in the later rounds.

i swear it wasnt this bad 5 years ago.. all this conjecture and BS can get to you.

I remember just watching the draft and learning about the guys THEN and there. Now I know what this kids mother is driving and his squat timed rep/weight is.

it used to be so much funner to watch

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

                  Re: NFL Draft overkill

Yeah, I've heard enough lead-up that I don't even care about watching the draft.

It's worse for me this year, I've actually paid a little more attention because the Packers are picking high for once and might be able to actually get a good first-rounder... provided Thompson doesn't screw up. Still, all I really care about is who Green Bay takes first... beyond that I doubt I'll watch much draft coverage this year.

                      Re: NFL Draft overkill

Everything with the NFL is overkill, not just the draft. That's why I've pretty much despised the NFL for the past 3-4 years. I can't take it anymore.

Pregame shows, the post game highlight shows, MNF, the Super Bowl. Everything gets over analyzed and hyped up way too much.

I certainly wont be bothered enough to watch. Its not an event, its not a game, I dont care. I'll treat the NFL draft the same as I do every other draft (except for the Sidney Crosby lottery last year, that was a little different), I'll read about them in the paper the next morning and check NFL.com periodicaly.

I'm a draft junkie...so I'm pretty sure I've 90% of the draft specials, to be honest.

I don't really care about all the extra coverage....i barely watch it. I wait for the actual draft and then i'll watch for hours and hours.

It's an event when you know 99% of the players in the actual draft lol....all the college football that i've watched pays off come draft time.
